An explosion at a cultural function of Udichi in Jessore on March 6, 1999, which left 10 people dead and more than 100 injured, set off the series of bloody blasts across the country marking the ominous rise of Islamic terrorism and militancy in Bangladesh. Till JMB started attack on politically unaffiliated soft civilian targets and members of the state apparatus, but in the beginning, mostly the Awami League (AL) activists, the progressive forces and the Sufi shrines had been the targets of these attacks by HUJI.

Awami League Government had categorically identified HUJI for the attacks and after the failed assassination attempt on Sheikh Hasina at Kotalipara, Mufti Hannan of HUJI was implicated after thorough investigation made by the intelligence agencies.

BNP+Jamat Alliance not only had defended politically before the election to draw electoral gains but later after coming to power in 2001 demonstrated protection to HUJI awarding bails to make free the members of HUJI who were earlier arrested or had been absconding under warrants of arrest. Also during the rising year of JMB and JMJB the administration overtly had been conniving with the members of JMJB, working under BNP+Jamat Government. When Siddikul Islam alias Bangla Bhai was openly marching in Rajshahi with fire-arms, visiting office of the Superintendent of Police, at the same instances Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami of JIB was claiming that so-called Bangla Bhai was creation of media.

With the background of Al-badr and Al-shams created in 1971 and blood of the martyred intellectuals in hand, initial connivance with HUJI, JMB and JMJB between 1999-2005, and supporting the corrupt regime of Hawa Bhaban during 2001-2006, it is an absurd project to create JIB emerge as a popular, patriotic, Islamic-Democratic political party in Bangladesh.  

In these circumstances, the effort of Bhuian Monoar Kabir can be quite admired as it can be reversed and may be considered true as it is meaningless.

This book may only work as a grisly reminder of unsolved killings.
