Dear Forum members and visitors:
Jibanananda Das, the Bengali poet of twentieth
century, was truly a poet of this living world. All
his poems have something to do with living. He did
not explore the devotional nature of human being (as
did Rabindranath). Das is the most natural and
secular of all poets of Bengal, make no mistake about
it. Please read this short poem to see the awesome
beauty of ths world through Das's eyes. My
translation would not even go closer to his original;
but nonetheless, I tried to extract some idea from the
poet to offer it to our non-Bengali poetry lovers.
Down below is the link for the original poem and my
translation.
Have a wonderful Earth Day.
Sincerely,
Jaffor Ullah
