Call for articles (poetry, short story, thoughts, photos on nature) on Earth Day – April 22, 2006
This year’s Earth Day will be celebrated on April 22 allover the globe. The least Mukto-Mona could do is erect a page devoted to Mother Earth, which sustains all forms of life both microscopic and macroscopic. The earth has taken a toll due to rapid and unplanned industrialization. The mantra of ‘Globalization’ is worsening the situation especially in India and China – the two powerhouses in Asia.
Thanks to wide usage of automobiles, the fossil fuel is rapidly declining and earth scientists say that global warming is an inevitable outcome of indiscriminate burning of petroleum. Is there any way we could slow down global warming by lessening our dependence on fossil fuel? This is the only earth we’ve got. If we pollute our biome to make it inhospitable, where else could we go? For some thoughts on this, let us set aside April 22, 2006 as this year’s Earth Day. You’ve the choice to send us article that would reflect your vision for an eco-friendly earth.
Apology to the members for the very short notice.
