Agreeing with Dr. Mazumder I just want to add an interesting anecdote from
Tagore's early life which he himself related later in his life. Here it is.
"Word came that the ruler of a principality in the Southern presidency of
Madras
had a suitable daughter. Rabindranath, accomapanied by Jyotirindranath, set off
to see her. There, in the ruler's palace, they met two young women, one
extremely attractive, the other exceedingly plain. Their hopes rose - only to
be
dashed when they learnt that the first lady was the stepmother of the girl
on 'offer'. "
