UN failed because US is the most powerful member and it has
all the clout to bribe and persuade many members to toe it's
line. UN doesn't have the military mechanism or will to forcibly
prevent US from committing any acts of invasion against any
country. US can pretty much get away with whatever it wants.
About the prospect in near future, it is already clear from
what is happenning now. Nothing is going to change in near
future. The Pentagon report few days ago already gave the true
picture which is gloomy at best. Civil war is already
happennig. If US pulls out there will be no civil war, because
the Mullahs will be in firm control. And fot that only US
(The Neocon controlled Bush administration) has to be blamed.
Saddam had the Mullahs firmly under his control with strict
secular enforcements.
