Miserable plight of religious minorities continues in Bangladesh. This time place of occurrence is Astogram, a upazila town (sub-district ) of Kishoreganj district. The story is same. Victims are members of two Hindu families of the said upazila town, known as Bhowmik family. A miscreant group forcibly occupied a portion of the residential quarter of Bhowmik family a few years back. A case was filed against this group, and the learned court gave verdict in favour of the family, and ordered for immediate evacuation of illegal occupation. As in other cases the forcible occupant instead of obeying the order of the court extended their area of possession. Even the protesting youths of the locality, led by one Mr. Abdul Wadud are also being constantly harassed threatened, of the consequence of supporting the wretched family. A few false cases have also been filed against this protesting group. In the mean while two cases against Mr. Wadud has bee declared as false by the learned court, but the harassment continues unabated.

As usual the law enforcing agencies are playing their usual role, a silent observer or a passive supporter of the miscreants. In the mean while, "Bicharer Vanee Nirabe Nivrite Kande" , and we continue our intellectual fight against fundamentalism violation of human rights from our safe desk.
