The minority Hindus are being attacked and killed almost regularly since the present Alliance government of four parties took over power. The Islamic fundamentalist communal parties such as Jamat-e-Islami and Islami Unity Council are directly or indirectly sharing the power in the Bangladesh Government. The communal politics of these parties have made the Hindu population as the soft targets of the communal political cadres and the criminals in Bangladesh. During the rule of the past Awami League government, the political Islamists didn't have the government power connection to make the Hindus as the soft targets of the communalists and the criminals. However, the political Islamists now enjoy the government power. For this, most of the criminals are likely to escape punishment. Maybe, the original criminals will never come under investigation. After all, the political Islamic party "Jamat-e-Islami" is sharing
government power and the victims are "Hindus."
So far, the present government and their Islamic fundamentalist partners have shown their capabilities in covering up the minority repression. They've been able to control secular media in Bangladesh by threatening them through arrests and torture. The opposition parties have been marginalized because they lost miserably and unexpectedly in the last election against the four-party alliance government consisting of Jamat-e-Islami and Islami Unity Council. All these have resulted in a free-style communal repression on the minority Hindu community in Bangladesh. The whole population in general and the minorities in particular aren't safe if the political Islamists enjoy power and gain more strength in Bangladesh.
