I am putting together an outing for May 17 (I know short notice) which is a 1:05pm game. We are offering discounted tickets to the kids and their families to come out and enjoy a day at the ball park. I know that we are pretty close to the event but any help you could give spreading the word would be much appreciated. A flyer is attached. The tickets will be available for $6 or $7.50 with different food add-ons available as well. Thanks!

From: "davidandpam.archer@..." <davidandpam.archer@...>

Mrs. Sholeen Wuest, our band director, asked me to send this out again this month. Also, Nashville Notes Advanced Band is excited to be performing Friday evening, May 20th at 6:45 at MTHEA's Homeschool Expo.

Sholeen checked with Michelle Fraley and learned that we don't have to be registered for the fair/expo to hear the band and the keynote speaker.
FYI - I checked with Michelle Fraley, the fair queen, about registration.  The question being, "Do parents need to register for the fair just to hear their kids play?"  The answer is a big NO!  ALL are welcome to come hear the keynote speaker regardless of whether or not they registered for the fair which means they are all welcome to hear the band  beforehand.

Nashville Notes will be accepting new band members until early fall and would like to invite homeschool families in the Middle Tennessee area to become a part of the band. I will try to remember to send this out several times before fall.

I am sending an invitation in this e-mail.

Thank you and have a wonderful week!

In Christ,

TENNESSEE HEAT FOOTBALL will begin Spring football practice for varsity and junior varsity players on Monday, May 16, 5 PM at Hermitage Church of Christ. All boys from grades 7-12 are invited and encouraged to participate.

4004 Lebanon Pike
Hermitage, TN 37076-2014

More details about the program are below.

For more information contact head coach Steve Herndon - 615-477-6311, sahatpca@....

**********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************

The TENNESSEE HEAT FOOTBALL  program is an 8-man, high school football team for homeschooled boys in grades 9-12.  We now also offer a Junior Varsity program for boys in grades 7-10. We participate in the Middle Tennessee Athletic Conference. This will be our third season. Last year we finished in a tie for first place at the end of the regular season and third in the end-of-season play-offs. We look forward to another great season this year.

Practice sessions typically run 1 1/2 -2 hours. We practice Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday until games begin and then we will play varsity games on Friday evening and JV on Thursday evening. We currently have 10-11 games scheduled for the Varsity. The JV schedule is under construction and will be fewer games than the varsity.

We practice at the Hermitage Church of Christ in a field behind the church.

Spring practice begins May 16 and runs for 3 weeks. Regular practice begins July 5.

The cost is $250.00 plus the purchase of your own pads and helmet. If finances are an issue, please contact us and let us see if we can work something out. We do not want that to be the reason for any boy to not play football.

This is the only homeschool football program that I know of that accepts players from any umbrella school instead of requiring you to join a specific group.

If you have any further questions feel free to contact me at stevebates32@....

Blessings,
Steve Bates

The Golden Eagles Girls' Soccer program will be beginning its fourth season soon.  Opportunities are available for both middle and high school age homeschooled girls. The teams will play girls' teams from public and private schools in the Middle Tennessee area.

Tryouts for both the high school and middle school Golden Eagles Girls' Soccer Teams will be on Saturday, June 4th from 9 until 11:30.  The tryouts will be held at the Lebanon Soccer fields located at 806 Castle Heights Avenue in Lebanon.  This field is just minutes off exit 236 from I-40.  We will have a registration/information table where the ladies can check in and try on jerseys.  Parents will need to sign a waiver form prior to their child practicing.  We will spend the first 15 to 20 minutes of the tryouts discussing the team, its purpose and goals, schedule, and expectations of players.  Parents should plan to be at this meeting.

After our tryouts on June 4th, the ladies will receive a conditioning schedule that they will need to complete each week on their own.  We will begin practices after the Fourth of July.  These practices will be twice a week (Saturday morning and Tuesday or Thursday evening).  Games for the middle school team will begin in August and end with a tournament on October 1st.  The high school games will begin in August and extend into the middle of October.

If you have any questions concerning this opportunity please contact Jeff Postell at jcpostell@....  Please share this info with your co-ops, support groups, and other homeschool families.

Dear Parents and Students,

Hello! My name is Saad Rehman, and I am a student at Vanderbilt University. This summer, I am co-managing the Nashville branch of Ivy Insiders, an innovative test prep company with a mission to improve test prep by offering better instructors, a better curriculum, and a lower price.

In an effort to reach out to the local community, I will be hosting several FREE full length practice ACT and SAT exams. These free practice tests will be held at Lipscomb University, and registration can be found online at http://www.revolutionprep.com/ivy_instructors/saad_r. This is a wonderful way for students to become familiar with the ACT/SAT and I strongly encourage all students to take advantage of this opportunity.

In addition, I will also be teaching classroom courses to help students improve their scores on the SAT and ACT. Please see the attached information sheet to see the list of courses and their dates, times, and locations. Also, I am excited to inform you that MTHEA members receive a $100 discount on all courses! Just enter the discount code TN3XMTHEA when you register!

Thank you for your time, and if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am always available via email (saad_rehman@...) and phone (615-351-9159).

Best,

Saad Rehman

I wanted to send out an email to let everyone know that the Tennessee Heat Middle School Boys Basketball team will be having some summer workouts starting soon. This is open to any home school boys who will be 5th to 8th grade this fall. The first workout will be on June 28th from 4:30 to 6:30 at Tulip Grove Baptist Church in Hermitage. The gym is on the back left side of the church. The workouts will consist of 30-45 minutes of skill work, followed by scrimmage time. If you have a home school boy in this age group, this is a great way for him to meet other players and get a feel for what the team is about. If you are interested, please respond to this email to let me know. Please send me your complete information: parents names, child's name, email, and cell phone #s. Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Hendersonville Knights is a youth sports program that is open to homeschoolers and is located at the Pope John Paul II High School facility.  They are expanding their program to include Middle School football this fall and are having tryouts for the teams, including 13 and 14 year olds.  This is a good opportunity for homeschool boys who would like to be part of a top quality middle school football program.  I thought I’d send this out in case there were parents who were interested.  My son, (homeschooled) currently plays with the Knights 12 year old AAA/majors baseball team and it has been a FANTASTIC program to a part of.  The coaches adhere to the highest standard of conduct and sportsmanship and require it of the boys also.  The level of play is outstanding (they are playing at the highest level of travel teams in the state) and the organization of the program is very professional.  I would encourage any parents looking for a football program to take a look at their website www.hendersonvilleknights.com.   You do not have to live in Hendersonville to play on the teams.
Annette Jennings
Hendersonville Knights Football Tryouts
July 16 - 9 AM - JPII High School

Last year the Knights football teams won 80% of their games, including two major bowl games, and outscored opponents 543-182. But teaching kids to be great football players and winning were not the program’s most important accomplishments.  - It was developing players spiritually utilizing Christian values and teaching them life lessons.
Our winning and teaching starts with evaluating the players at tryouts. We are looking not just for hard working athletes, but also team players that want to listen, learn and improve their game.
We are expanding our program to ages 7 through 14 years-old. Age groups will be:
·        7/8 year-olds (Head Coach Randy Puckett: rpuckett@...)
·        9/10 year olds (Head Coach Rob Horton: rob_horton@...)
·        11/12 year-olds (Head Coach Jeff Holt: jrholt@...)
·        13/14 year-olds (Head Coach Brandon Tinnon: bctinnon@...)
We will have tryouts Saturday, July 16 at JPII at 9 AM.  To tryout, you must register your son at www.hendersonvilleknights.com. If your son can’t make that date, you may contact the appropriate coach above about the possibility of an alternative date for your son.  Tryout attire is shorts, t-shirt and cleats. Make sure your player has plenty to drink. Tryouts will last 2-3 hours.
This is what parents say about the Knights football program:
“This is one of the best learning experiences my son has ever had; in sports and spiritually.”
“The Knights Football program taught my son how to overcome adversity, play as a team, be a better person, and be a winner!!!”
For more testimonials about the program go to www.hendersonvilleknights.com.
Beautiful New Facilities: The 2011 season will be played at JPII High School on a new state of the art turf field, allowing players to experience the very best in field conditions. We are also getting new concession stands and restrooms.
