Description
The Middle Peninsula African-American Genealogical and Historical Society of Virginia (MPAAGHS) was formed in September of 2004. Its mission is to create and provide opportunities to encourage and enable African Americans to research, document, and publish their family histories and genealogies.
The organization's focus is Virginia's Middle Peninsula (including the counties of Essex, Middlesex, King and Queen, and King William, etc.); however, anyone doing African-American genealogical research is encouraged to participate and will surely find something to share.
The organization has established a surnames list in which persons can list the family names they are researching for the purpose of exchanging information with other researchers. The surnames list may be accessed by clicking on the following:
