Why should God be our Mother? Why should God be referred to as female instead of male when God is Spirit? Because woman is the person who has the reproductive cell, the egg, and male does not. Woman has a womb to gestate the infant and breasts to feed it. (In third world countries, some children suckle up to five years old.) Woman also has a NURTURING BRAIN and a COMPASSIONATE HEART. Men have another role, at the side of woman. But woman should lead the family and world, and represents the Eternal Mother of Life. We need a physical image for God - even the Holy Spirit is a dove, a fire, a wind or water. We cannot see or imagine Spirit. Our minds need a tangible, material image of God who Creates, Nurtures, Comforts, Guides and ultimately Destroys, but only to receive our souls into Herself. This image MUST BE MOTHER.
