Welcome to Mosaicteachers! We have been together since November of 2001. Many of us feel like friends and hope that if your interests are common to ours, that you will feel comfortable with us. We are a group of teachers who have discovered explicit strategy instruction as defined by Mosaic of Thought written by Ellin Keene. Members are encouraged to discuss how explicit strategy instruction is being used in their classrooms to promote a love of literature and a desire to write. Our questions and answers help us identify the best practices in planning, teaching and evaluating literature lessons, but in other subject areas as well. Many members are employing reading and writing workshop approaches and many discussions evolve around how to support students in these formats. These discussions have evolved from reading Mosaic of Thought and Reading with Meaning by Debbie Miller. Other professional resources may be read depending on members’ interests. Our discussions are supportive, encouraging, often witty, and always professional, so pull up a chair and settle down for a professional chat with friends.
