Hello;

I'm candice & just joined the group.  I am also new at investigating/looking into RLDS/Community of Christ. See I joined the Utah LDS in Jan 2003 with my husband, then after some disagreements we left in June 2003. However I went inactive & then came back in Aug 2004 off/on until resigning my letter last December. I got interested in the RLDS after doing some research because even though I left the LDS I still believe in Joseph Smiths work & the book of mormon.  My husband  & I just moved to Colorado from Texas last week & the nearest Cofchrist congregation is 2 hours away,but we may drive there to check it out tomorrow.We are currently staying with relitives until he starts work then we'll move after we save enough money to get a place so the congregations will be closer, less then an hour.

My main question is after doing research on the history of RLDS is this.. If Joseph Smith Jr. appoited Bringham Young as the next prophet/president then why did some choose to stay when the other half went on their journey to the West? Did they disapprove of how he lead the church after Josephs death? From what I understand Emma Smith stayed behind as well, & you would figure with her husband starting the church then she would want to follow  or  most would want to stay with her & others & countiue there.

What are your views & why have you chosen the RLDS church, how have you come across that path?   before I joined LDS  I attended Baptist churches.
