All,
I have a A/C cooling water pump that supplies two A/C units. One is located in
the stern of theboat. I live in theHouston area where the water is not muddy
and stuff grows in it like crazy. So I have to clean the strainer every week.
However, recently the water discharge for the rear A/C unit has all but stopped
flowing. I assume this means there is a plug in the system. I assume it is in
the heat exchanger on the A/C unit itself - butI am not sure of that.

Does anyone have any experience in this sort of thing? I have been putting
bleach tablets (the ones for swimming pools) in the strainer basket for a while
but it does not seem to have any effect.

Any thoughts or ideas on how to deal or fix this problem?

Thanks,
Dennis

I am assuming the boat is in salt water. If you can fill the discharge lines with vinegar and let it sit for a while; it will dissolve any salt build up in...

If you first send down a saturated solution of baking soda, and let it sit for 5 minutes or so, then follow it with the vinegar; the effervescent action will...

Merlin, What a simple and wonderful idea. A copper strainer basket is simple and easy and it will certainly keep the barny’s at bay. I do not think the AC...

There should be a zinc somewhere in the system. These are often pencil zincs and sometimes pieces break off and clog the line. They will usually lodge at some...
