By the way, I am really excited about the Elric film. According to
Moorcock he is asking them to aim gothic and go dark, instead of making
it just another cheesy swordfest adventure.
It could be great.

Fabio,
Hey, this is interesting. I have never read these comics. Were they
well done versions? If the are nice I might hunt them down. My only
fear with comic versions of anything (same with TV/film versions) is
that sometimes they really screw them up.
Let us know the details.
Thomas
I'm having a blast re-reading my Corum comics from First Comics. Just
finished "The Knight and Queen of Swords." Looks like I have "The King
of Swords" and "The Sword and the Stallion" to go. I can't recall if
First stopped at this point or did the next two books as well.
I'll have to go up in my attic and search out the Elric and Hawkmoon
comics as well. A lot to look forward to!
Steve S.
Dear all,
I have founded a group dedicated to James Rollins, the bestselling
author of numerous thrillers, including the Sigma Force series which is
inspired by Doc Savage.

All are welcome to join.

Do you think Moorcock is smart or wrong in bringing Elric to earth?
That is, in how he has brought Elric usually with von Bek to earth
several times in recent books focused on Viking or Nazi times.
The manifold Eternal Champions were all multiversal aspects of the
same, but generally stayed within their own versions of reality, except
for the occasional great crossover. But I was curious how people took
Elric's more recent retuning trips to Earth. Instead of being the
Doomed Prince of his own reality, he is now becoming recurrently
"human."
Thomas
Do you approve or disapprove of Michael Moorcock opening his multiverse
up to other authors?
He has allowed numerous authors, including Norman Spinrad, Brian
Aldiss, Neil Gaiman, Nancy Collins, Tad Williams, John Harrison, James
Sallis, Storm Constantine, etc., to write with his characters and/or
with stories set in his various worlds.
Does this tarnish/diminish Moorcock's creations or expand them? I ask
because often the complaint with great writers such as Robert E Howard
is that their work has become tainted by some much hack writing in the
name of the original. Is this a risk or is it managed?
Cheers,
Thomas
Hello, Will,
Xiombarg is indeed a Moorcock creation. She was a sorceress who became
a Queen of Chaos (in the Melnibonean canon with the likes of Arioch,
etc.) and used people like Gaynor the Damned, etc. She was also later
involved in the Conan realm via Marvel comics and all those teamups.
There is a nice page of her later comic/gaming adaptations here:

Hope that helps.
Cheers,

Well, there is nothing free in this world. But, just to clarify, which
Hawkmoon are you looking for... the original books, the comic books,
the games, or the music from the band?
Cheers,
Thomas

Fantastic news!
They are making an Elric movie, and perhaps three of them.
Universal has opted for three and already paid for one. Chris and Paul
Weitz are producing and directing. The second draft of the script is
currently being written.
I cannot wait. I had always hoped for something like a Jackson (LOTR)
or Ang Lee or Merchant Ivory styled production of extreme quality, but
anything will do. After decades of waiting, you go ahead and bow to
the forces that be.
