First off, many thanks to Vic for the great information and maps on birding hotspots. For someone new to the area, like me, this is wonderful!
Out birding yesterday with my sister, we had a great time exploring Lickinghole. Lots of birds out yesterday including Pileated WP, Red Shoulder Hawks, numerous Swamp Sparrows, among the more common birds of the area. Did spot an Eastern Towhee, and a Yellow Rumped Warbler, but did not see the Wood Ducks, although we did not bring boots and so could not ford those streams to get to the other side of the beaver dam.
Also travelled to Beaver Creek Reservoir where we saw very little. One Pied Billed Grebe was all! Of interest tho was a brown bat out dipping down to the water for a drink! He landed on a tree and we got a good look at him. We did wonder why he was out during the day…
Thanks again for directions to some beautiful places to bird and spend a great day outdoors J
