Modern Muslima is a friendly discussion group for Muslim women. Members will also receive notices of updates to the website Modern Muslima.com. No matter your nationality, race, ethnicity, politics, or madhab, we have some shared common beliefs, namely that of la illaha illa Allah, Muhammadur Rasul'Allah. We do expect that members will share a common belief about the sanctity of the Qur'an, the position of the Sunnah, the traditional sciences of Islamic scholarship, halal / haram, the five pillars, and hijab.

With this mutual respect in mind, this group's purpose is that Muslimas can share and discuss ideas and experiences relating to current events, politics, marriage, motherhood, health, pregnancy, art, literature, and technology. Because members may have disparate and deeply held views regarding Islamic beliefs and practices, we ask that members refrain from discussing them, posting links to various sites, etc. There are many Yahoo and MSN groups devoted to specific understandings of Islam for Muslim women that you can join.

Members must read and return three files to become members: the rules of posting, the rules of adab, and a profile. If you do not return these within 14 days, your membership request will expire. A note in the "note to moderator" box is not sufficient.
