OTHER COHOUSING IN MINNESOTA
---------------------------------------------------------
* Would you like to be in a cohousing community somewhere in the Twin Cities
metro area in the next 1-4 years? Cohousing Advocates has a deal for you. We are
looking for really interested households (singles, families, couples - all ages)
who want to move into a community sooner rather than later. Does that sound like
you? If you are willing to put in time and energy *starting now* in order to
create such a community, we can link you with others who feel the same. We're
currently working with a group that is based in White Bear Lake, and is
interested in locating in the northern suburbs. We are also reaching critical
mass for a group interested in south Minneapolis. Potential sites we identified
back in 2006 are still available due to the downturn in the housing market, and
we've found other developers with promising sites since then. Cohousing
Advocates' role is first to help people with similar interests find each other,
and then provide support as the group begins to educate themselves about the
cohousing development process. We will coach and mentor your group until you are
ready to partner with a developer and find the site you want. If you are
interested in getting involved to start growing a group, please call
Phil[@]CohousingAdvocates.com.
--------------------------------------------------------
* Cohousing Advocates works with Cohousing Groups, and helps them find sites and
partner with developers, to help create more cohousing communities for the Twin
Cities and surrounding region. Using our "Blueprint to Cohousing" we will
actively assist your cohousing group with the steps you need to take in order to
create the cohousing community you want. (We help new groups form, as well as
working with existing groups.) See www.CohousingAdvocates.com for more
information and to be added to our mailing list for monthly updates. Contact us
at 952-926-8554 or 612-871-8196, or e-mail Phil[@]CohousingAdvocates.com. Call
us if you're ready to start a group for whatever part of the Twin Cities or

Tai Chi Co-Housing
Twin Cities-based group
Development timeline: 2 - 5 years.
An independent group is beginning to organize around the idea of
forming a co-housing community of people who would like to practice
Tai Chi together on a regular basis. Initially, we will be talking
about what our hopes and dreams are regarding a co-housing community.
The tentative location is within the boundaries of the greater Twin
Cities metro area, although it could extend beyond that, based on who
is interested.
Right now, very occasional e-mail updates are all that's happening. A
website is being created. In fall 2008, we intend to start holding
potluck meetings every other month. If you practice Tai Chi in a
group setting, please pass the word to anyone you know who might be
interested so they can sign up to receive e-mail notices.

This cohousing group-in-formation has decided to suspend business
meetings for now. We still have monthly potlucks, with a less formal
orientation to cohousing in general. See our web site,

say, and we want to spread the news coming out of other groups.
Probable next step: formal collaboration with another group, possibly
through Cohousing Advocates. For more information, call Susan or Bob

* Would you like to be in a cohousing community somewhere on St

has a deal for you. The idea is to start a group of really interested

into a community sooner rather than later, and understand that they
need to put in time and energy *starting now* if such a community is
going to happen sometime before 2012. The Rivoli Bluff site is one
possible location to be considered, but the site search wouldn't be
limited to that site. Cohousing Advocates' role is first to help
people with similar interests find each other, and then provide

* Rivoli Bluff CoHousing Community
It appears we have the luxury of taking more time to recruit
interested members before decisions need to be made on how many
living units to build and what style of housing people want. The
developer, a community development housing agency, has its hands full
right now dealing with the housing foreclosure crisis in the Dayton's
Bluff neighborhood (trying to help save people from foreclosure).
It's a mixed blessing, as the timeline for Rivoli construction is
less clear now, but also good for our group because more committed,
energetic people are needed in order for this to move forward as a
cohousing community.
Rivoli Bluff Cohousing is a project of Cohousing Adovcates and
Daytons Bluff Neighborhood Housing Services, on the east side of St.
Paul. See contact information below.

*Community in the Cities, St. Paul.
This cohousing group-in-formation has decided to suspend business
meetings for now. We still have monthly potlucks, with a less formal
orientation to cohousing in general. See our web site,
www.CommunityInTheCities.org, for details. We still have things to
say, and we want to spread the news coming out of other groups.
Probable next step: formal collaboration with another group, possibly
through Cohousing Advocates. For more information, call Susan or Bob
