The Miniature Needlework Society was founded in 1997 to encourage all forms of miniature work with needle and thread, as in embroidery of every kind, knitting, crochet, tatting, lace making, patchwork etc.

The Australian branch was set up in 2003 to encourage greater participation by Australian needleworkers. Membership of this Yahoo group is open to Australian and New Zealand residents with an interest in miniature needlework.
