Secretary of State Web Site Focus Group and Survey Information
From the office of:
Kent Kaiser
Communications Director
Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State
May 10, 1999
I am writing today to ask for your help in recruiting students, parents, and education professionals to participate in a focus group and survey for my office. Please pass along this information to your social studies and computer departments.
In an effort to be a more valuable education resource and, ultimately, to engage young people as active citizens, I am doing a major upgrade of the Minnesota Secretary of State web site. The new site will feature a section specifically meant to appeal to junior high and high school student interests and needs. It is very important to me to consider as much user input as possible throughout the process of redesigning the site.
To help achieve this, my office will be conducting two focus group sessions with students, parents, and education professionals: the first, prior to design, will take place on May 20; the second, to review and evaluate the tentative new design, will take place on June 10. The sessions will run from noon to 4:00 p.m. and will take place in room 500 North, State Office Building, 100 Constitution Avenue, Saint Paul. During these sessions, participants will be invited to provide input. First, we will give an overview of the project to all participants, 12:00-12:45. Then from 12:45-2:45, the students will be invited to provide input while the parents and education professionals take a tour of the Capitol. From 2:45-4:00, the parents and education professionals will be invited to provide input while the students take the tour. We will also provide a participation certificate to all who attend.
I would appreciate greatly if you could help in recruiting students, parents, and education professionals as participants for this project by disseminating this information at your school. Those wishing to participate may contact my communications director, Kent Kaiser at kent.kaiser@... or 651-297-8919 to apply for focus group participation and receive further details.
Those who are unable to attend the focus group sessions may complete the enclosed survey to provide input.
Thank you for your help.
Cordially,
Mary Kiffmeyer
