Ganutell is the Art of making Maltese Traditional Flowers using wire and thread. The craft which is akin to the Viennese and Bavarian Klosterarbeiten, found its way from Europe to Malta in the early eighteenth century and beautiful examples of this intricate and delicate work can be admired in many of the Maltese Churches.
The craft or better still art, has seen a revival in the later years of the twentieth century and interest has spread overseas and is now practised not only in a number of countries in Europe but also in the Americas and Asia.
