Misuse of dowry prohibition act and related provisions has become rampant.
The victim is often subject to blackmail, usually for money. The law in order to protect the women who suffer becuase of dowry demands gives extraordinary provisions where one is often deemed guilty untill proven otherwise. And even the burden of proving innocnece lies on the accused. These provisions have been as mentioned earlier widely misused and used for blackmail almost any marital dispute is sure to turn into a dowry case.We intend to oppose and campaign to bring abt changes in the act so that the unscrupulous dont misuse it.
