Praise be to Yahweh for He is Awesome and cares for ALL the needs of His people and His works! I am going to be able to pay all the bills that are in come Monday when I have time to sit down and get them paid. I also will stock the Mission with pasta and veggies today.

We will do the January newsletter and mail it out on the 29th so most of you should recieve it by the first.

Can you believe it 2010 already. Wow!

Thanks to all who have and will answer the call from Yahweh to provide the much needed support to care for His people. Everything looks good as we come to the close of 2009. Please pray about supporting us as we do the works of our Father.

We are faithful that He will supply our needs but first we must make those needs known as the word says "you have not cause you ask not".

We only want to Serve Yahweh and we only want want He intends us to have. I must close for as always I have tons of stuff to do to be ready to go feed today.

About 2200 years ago, Greek kings, who reigned from Damascus, ruled over the land of Judea and the Jews living there.

One Greco-Syrian King, Antiochus Epiphanes, forbade the Jewish people from praying to their God, practicing their customs, and studying their Torah. Antiochus forced the Jews to worship the Greek gods. It is said that he placed an idol of the Greek God Zeus on the alter in the Holy Temple of Jerusalem.

In response to this persecution, Judah Maccabee and his four brothers organized a group of resistance fighters known as the Maccabees. They fought against paganism and oppression.

The tenacity of the rebels, which came from their steadfast faith in one God, is one reason this military victory has been so celebrated by Jews in future generations. In one battle near Beit Horon, Judah's small army is intimidated by the size of the enemy army and Judah tells them to have faith that God is on their side:

But when they saw the army coming to meet them, they said unto Judah: 'What? shall we be able, being a small company, to fight against so great and strong a multitude? ...' And Judah said: 'It is an easy thing for many to be shut up in the hands of a few, and there is no difference in the sight of Heaven to save by many or by few; for victory in battle standeth not in the multitude of an host, but strength is from Heaven. They come unto us in fullness of insolence and lawlessness, to destroy us and our wives and our children, for to spoil us; but we fight for our lives and our laws. And He Himself will discomfort them before our face; but as for you, be yet not afraid of them." (The First Book of Maccabees)

Against great odds, after three years of fighting, the Maccabees succeeded to drive the Greco-Syrians out of Judea. Hanukkah proclaims the message of the prophet Zachariah: "Not by might, not by power, but by My spirit."

The Maccabees reclaimed the Holy Temple in Jerusalem. They cleaned the Temple, removing the Greek symbols and statues. When Judah and his followers finished cleaning the temple, they rededicated it. On the 25th day of the month of Kislev in 164 BCE, the Temple was purified and rededicated.

According to tradition, when the Maccabees entered the Holy Temple, they discovered that the Greco-Syrians had defiled the oil which was used to Temple's menorah. Only one vat of purified oil remained - enough for only one day. It would twas ready. This is why the Hanukkah Menorah has eight candles (not including the shamash candle used to light the others) and one reason why Jews celebrate Hanukkah for eight days.ake the Jews a week to process more purified oil. Then a miracle occurred. The Maccabees lit the menorah and it burned for not one, but eight days, by which time the new, purified oil

Greetings Saints,

Today was a good day as depending on how you look at it, my heart cried so much as I thought I would run out of money for shoes, the above picture is two pair of shoes one for a man the other for a woman. This was my second trip to wal-mart for shoes today. AND DID THEY NEED SHOES ONE PAIR TALKED WHEN HE WALKED!

I had no socks to give them for their shoes as I am barely going to have gas to get home and back, but the day is spent and I made it through it. Mom is going through some bags of clothing that came from out of town.

I was supposed to try and drop the bus off today to fix the blinkers as someone said drop it off and they would pay for it, I did not get down till after the place closed so I have to drive back over tomorrow to get it done, but I am so thankful.

This month has been so low on donations, but I will keep going as long as people keep coming. Please pray that all the needs are met this week, we have so much on our plate.....my faith says he will use one or some of you to accomplish this.......as normal The Pastor the brokest guy on the block

Boy this is becoming one tough winter, while we were pulled out of the whole in October we are fixing to slide right back in. You see this month is generally the slowest month of the year and we try to prepare for that.

But this year has been slower all the way through with a few months being pretty good, I really am not complaining as we are still doing the work Amen.

Here is what is hurting other than the bills that will double if they do not get paid soon.

No money for hats and gloves nor any sent to us

It is now cold and will stay cold for the next couple of months....bad for the poor

Same with coats

Very little hygiene items we cannot afford to buy them and hardly any coming in.

Out of socks

Cannot buy over the counter medications, image going though the flu with nothing��..then consider if you were out side all or most of the time.

Right now it has been hard to make sure I even have the gas over and all this started back as soon as it hit December. I could go on but I am sure you do not want to here my woes, but remember that it is to serve the Father and to help those who cannot help themselves right now. So many new faces��

Have you tried our blog out? You can get radio programs from there and access our main web site also It have news links that you just put your mouse over and the articles below them change.

Well be very blessed, lift us in payer and help if you can.

Thanksgiving went really well we fed 108 plates and everyone was so full they didn't eat much desert. We recieved a total of fourteen turkeys I baked eleven, Ed smoked two and Sharon baked one, I have three bagged an ready to use in the freezer. We mailed the December newsletter out before Thanksgiving so you all should have them by now. Chanukkah is next week and it begins at dark on the 11th and ends at dark on the 19th. We pray you have a wonderful celebration with your families. The bills really need paid and Yahweh knows what I need to make that happen. All I ask is that you take us to prayer an ask if you are a vessel to help this ministry then follow thru with what Yahweh puts on your heart to do. Today the temps are almost freezing 34% in the day time, people are asking for medications ( help with prescriptions)

and shoes, late they will be asking for hats and gloves.....we need prayers, I have had almost 0 donations of hats and gloves and hardly any coats.....list us in prayer as the needs of the people are very great...I am pray that maybe there are some ministries on this list that can help if they have extra of these Items?

Greetings,

Today someone emailed me and told me to take the Bus to the shop that they would pay to fix the blinkers! This is a great praise report as we have been driving without, no it is not right to do that but really I felt I had no choice, so I do repent about it.

On another note normally we recieve a $75 weekly donation every Wed. It comes by an automatic deduction. We count on this donation every week to get us over there on Friday if nothing else comes in. I also know I have it for shoes or it will even and does buy food ( meat) on some days, it has been our weekly bail out.

I pray that the people that donate this are well as it has not came in the week. I am sure that the Father will make it up in another way but please pray for those folks finances as the economy has hit so many and I pray it has not hurt them also.

This week on radio we will be talking about the Christians being persecuted around the world and even killed.......

This year Hanukkah begins the night of December 11th.

The Feast of Dedication� or Hanukkah, -- you will not find this Holiday in Lev. 23 with the seven Feasts of the Lord. But we find it in John 10:22 and other places as well. I think it may be necessary to do a little history here before going on; this will not be a history lesson, just a little background.

The time was around 167 BC or, if you�re Jewish--BCE. Prior to this date a young ruler named Alexander the Great, ruled the entire ancient world. This period of time is referred to as �the Hellenistic period� (Greeks). His untimely death caused a power struggle and four of his generals split up the kingdom. The one that ended up with Israel was Antiochus IV. This new Ruler of Israel commanded everyone to convert to Hellenism (Greek Metrology) and the Greek values that he held. Many did, even many of the Jews of the land because they found it to be a very civilized way of life.

But, there were those Jews who held close to the Torah and God�s way of worship and refused to embrace Hellenism. In fact, Antiochus gave the Jews an ultimatum, to either give up their distinctive customs, such as worshipping on the Sabbath (Saturday), Circumcision, and Kosher Laws, or die.

One of the first things Antiochus did was to desecrate the Holy Temple. He ordered the utensils, such as the Menorah, Altar, and Table to be defiled and torn down. Then to be certain that he had accomplished his job, he ordered a pig to be sacrificed on the holy altar. After doing all of that, he order that a Greek god Zeus be worshiped in the Temple.

When Antiochus heard that the people were murmuring and talking about revolt against him, he marched his troops to a town in the foothills called Modi�in. His plan was to erect a false god in the city and force the people to worship it. Modi�in was the home of a priest named Mattathias who had five sons. He and his sons revolted and killed the soldiers and began the revolt against this evil ruler. One of Mattathias�s sons was Judah, and he became the new leader and was quickly nicknamed �Maccabee� (the Hammer in Hebrew). To bring this piece of history to a close we will just report that Maccabee and his men defeated the Greek armies and got rid of Antiochus.

The Maccabees now faced the task of restoring the Temple for Jewish worship to their Holy God. They cleansed the Temple and restored the furnishings. There was special attention given to the Menorah, for it symbolized the Light of God. They restored it and when they went to light it, they found there was a problem. This Menorah could only be used with special oil, and it took eight days to prepare such oil. They found enough of this special oil to burn only one day. To celebrate the victory of the battle fought for their religious liberty, they decided to light the Menorah anyway and allow the light of God to shine forth with its glory, even if but for a day. But God gave them a miracle, and the oil lasted eight days, until the new oil was made ready. So today we have the eight days of the Feast of Dedication �Hanukkah.� It is also why you will see a nine branch Menorah instead of seven in most Jewish homes. It represents the miracle of the eight days the oil burned; the ninth branch (in the center) is the Shamash (Servant Lamp), which represents the Messiah.

There are many customs and traditions that brings one closer to God and understanding of His greatness associated with this holiday, but I want to keep this as short as possible. Each night for eight nights a candle is lighted. The Shamash (the center) is always lit first, for it is from the Messiah that all light flows. It is then used to light each candle for the eight nights. Blessing is said and songs about Hanukkah sung. Gifts are given to the children each of the eight nights. During the lighting of the Shamash and the other candles are lit with the Shamash, the following blessings are said. I will try to write the Hebrew in English letters for you, I hope I do it correctly.

A little advice in lighting the candles, you place them in the Menorah from right to left, but you light them with the Shamash from left to right.

BARUKH ATAH ADONAI ELOHENU MELEKH HA-OLAM, ASHER KIDSHANU B�MITZVOHTAV L�HADLEEK NER, SHEL HANUKKAH.

Blessed are you, O Lord our God, King of the universe, who has set us apart by your commandments and commanded us to kindle the light of Hanukkah.

So after lighting the candles and singing the Hanukkah songs, you set down for a festive meal, each night for eight nights.

So I will conclude with one Jewish recipe for �Latkes� or to put it more simply �Potato Pancakes.�

Ingredients:

2 Eggs

3 Cups grated, drained potatoes

4 Tbls. Grated onion

� tsp. Pepper

2 Tbls. Cracker or matzah meal

� cup oil or butter

Beat the eggs and add the potatoes, onions, salt (to taste), pepper, and meal. Heat half the oil or butter in a frying pan and drop the potato mixture into it by tablespoon. Fry until browned on both sides. Keep pancakes hot until all are fried and add more oil or butter as required. Serve with Applesauce or sour cream. Serves 8.

First off I have no TV video to offer this year, the last 3 years we have had channel 3 cover what we do but not this year, such is the way of things.

This last year while helping more people, new people, we have been quieter to the city about the conditions of the homeless.

You see for the last 10 years since we started the same things always happens, people bring forward the knowledge of the problems of the homeless but then the agencies step forward and tell everyone that they have it under control.

The last best effort was put forward a few years ago when AECH was started, at one point many people were involved and ready to fund raise and go forward on a 24/7 shelter but an agency convinced the people that they should wait and people lost interest.

Also the city came forward with a task force to cure the problem and AECH decided to wait on the results, of course no new shelter was proposed, as on the task force were people from the agencies that would be hurt by a new shelter.

So AECH was let down and the momentum was stopped.

Praise the Lord, AECH now the last 2 years have fund raised for the overflow to let in anyone in and to be open 5 months instead of the traditional 3 months of winter. So a big hand for AECH!

Also still there are people that will come in an overflow for more than one reason, like the way they had been treated in the past, some are mental and cannot handle crowds, many reasons some just stay out under the bridges.

This year we had a very good time, we say many new faces from people who recently became homeless due to the economy. At dinnertime there was not a chair left and some just came and got a plate and left, we served over a 100 plates of food a little less than last year I think but mom always knows the numbers better than I do.

On new fellow was talking to me trying to describe how we were different, it went something like this �Well there the other places that feed want you to well just eat and get out quick, then others that do let you stay just have well rules, or it�s hard to explain and here it like well�.Family, everything is relaxed and it�s well like family�

And this is what we mean we give them a �family atmosphere, that is a Godly Family atmosphere� we make them feel warm and wanted. They know that we are different as HIS people should be and so this makes them come to us asking for prayers and guidance.

Some told us this was the best Thanksgiving they ever had, consider that with the very crowded manner in which we are�.and it was the best they ever had��

And yes we stayed over, we had 33 to 35 people staying over and yes that was allot on the floor, I can put roughly 50 on the floor as I have in the past. No one complained about blankets on a hard floor!

Of course I want to thank all that donated to Thanksgiving, may the Lord Yeshua bless and keep you.

I am sad about one thing, I had hoped more money would have came in from me being on Raiders News Network as I wanted to buy shoes, hats, and gloves for the people, now no way unless a miracle happens as that alone is $3,000.

We need to pray in the money for December bills that are coming in before they come to shut offs. We do not want to get behind like we was in October where we really almost shut down. Thanksgiving marks our 11^th year Amen (inside a building, we fed outside a few months before going inside), and yes I am broke except for a $25 donation I received yesterday.

Lift us in prayer and please help if you can,

Why do some Jews refer to God as "Hashem"?

If you spend time around observant Jews, you probably know that Hashem, literally �The Name,� is a common way to refer to God. Why do people use this appellation?

True, on one hand it is forbidden (By Rabbi's and not the Bible, it is what we call a "fence" built around Torah out of the fear of breaking Torah so a fence is built around the commandment so it is for sure not broken, over time the tradition or fence became Law with the Jews, PD) to pronounce the actual four-letter name of God (Yud Heh Vav Hey). But a deeper reason for saying �Hashem� is because that is the essence of our relationship with God. To explain:

Nobody walks around calling themselves by their own name. I don�t say, �Jon is going to eat breakfast and then Jon will go to work.� Rather I would say, �I�m going to eat breakfast and then I�ll go to work.� The only people who talk about themselves in the third person (and get away with it) are egocentric athletes, politicians, etc. Even in English we call it �third person� -- not first, not even second, but third. It suggests a distancing from an intimate relationship.

A handle is not the essence.

A name essentially only exists for the benefit of the outsider. People don�t identify themselves by their names -- that�s why names are also called �handles.� As in, your AIM or Google-chat handle. (Anyone remember CB radios?) A handle is something outside the very essence of the thing, but exists so that other people can hold it. A coffee mug has a handle -- not to contain the coffee (the mug�s real purpose), but so that you can have a relationship with the mug which allows you to partake in its coffee.

Human beings are no different. We don�t have a big relationship between our identity and our name, but other people do. An indication of this is how we can meet someone that shares our name, and have a very clear separation between us and them. I have a very good friend named Jon. In fact, when I think of the name Jon, I don�t think of myself. I think of him!

Finite World

So why do we say �Hashem?� If names are there to help those who say it and not the person or object being named, then why don�t we call God by His true name (YKVK)? Why the distant appellation, �The Name�?

The name you choose to call someone by indicates the relationship you have with them. Knowing God is infinite should humble us and remind us of the endless limitations we have as humans. The four-letter name of God (YKVK) that is written in our prayers is never pronounced phonetically because that name represents the infinite aspect of God which is beyond human comprehension. That name is really a combination of three Hebrew words: Haya, Hoveh and Yeheyeh � past, present, and future. The idea isn�t just that God was is and always will be, but that He transcends time. In other words, God exists in the past, present and future -- simultaneously.

Being stuck in a finite world, this is something we cannot fully comprehend, but the concept of God being Infinite is something so powerful and humbling that just saying "Hashem" (The Name) helps us do two things: One, it evokes awe by reminding us of the infinity of God as reflected in the four-letter Name; and two, it distances us from this concept to remind us of our own limitations.

Reminding ourselves of our own limitations is a great thing. It brings us to rely on that which does not have limitations, namely God. Healthy dependence is a great way to build a relationship which, after all, is the essence of our job here on Earth -- to forge a relationship with the Creator.

Intimacy through Names

Imagine a city in the middle of a war. The dirt flying in the air. Missiles overhead. Everything in chaos. The smell of chemicals permeating the thick fog that has become the sky and civilians running through the streets in confusion, in panic -- a living nightmare. A doctor runs across the blood stained streets looking for people he can help, wounds he can heal just enough to get people back on their feet so they can keep running, keep living. He tends to a man bleeding from a piece of shrapnel, when he suddenly hears someone call out, �Doctor.�

A short distance away he sees the woman calling out. She is hurt and in need of immediate attention. But as soon as he runs toward her, he hears another voice: �David!� He looks over to see his neighbor on the ground with a serious injury. No sooner than two steps into the neighbor�s direction, a small voice pierces through the sweaty air and whispers, �Dad.� The doctor is paralyzed for a moment before looking for his son amidst the rubble.

"Hashem" is the Jewish people�s way of saying Dad.

To most people, the man in the story was an anonymous person running around the streets -- until someone saw him performing a medical act. Then he became �Doctor.� To his neighbor, however, he was �David,� a name that suggests an attachment that forced him to care just a little bit more. And when he heard �Dad� come through the thick fog, he was paralyzed.

This is the power of a name. It defines the relationship we have with the person and forces us to treat them in a particular way.

"Hashem" is the Jewish people�s way of saying Dad. Dad is not the person�s legal name, it�s not their Hebrew name, it�s not their business title. It�s shorthand. It�s a way to say that we, as Jews, have a nickname for You, God. It�s a nickname that suggests both intimacy and respect, like the appellation "Dad." It�s a way to tell your father that you love him, but that you still understand he�s the father, he�s in charge.

Likewise with Hashem: We love You and feel close to You. And at the same time recognize our distance and Who is really in charge.
