Description

This is a weekly Torah commentary (d'var torah) by Rabbi Steven P. Nathan. Ordained from the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College, Steven is also a practitioner and teacher of mindfulness meditation having studied with Sylvia Boorstein and Rabbis Sheila Peltz Weinberg and Jeffrey Roth at Elat Chayyim, the Jewish Spiritual Retreat Center. He is also a storyteller and graduate of the Institute for Contemporary Midrash, where he studied midrashic storytelling with master storyteller Peninnah Schram. He served as the campus rabbi at Hampshire College in Amherst, MA and is now the Jewish Chaplain at Colgate University in Hamilton, NY.

The weekly d'var torah is written from the perspective of mindfulness and is in the form of prose, poetry or original midrash (story). It is usually delivered sometime before Shabbat (God willing). Sometimes it may not arrive in time for Shabbat, so make sure to check after Shabbat as well.
- Responses are always welcome - Rabbi Nathan is also available to come to your community as a teacher and scholar in-resdience. You may contact him at mindfultorah@gmail.com or at (215) 514-3463. You can also find more information about programs Steven can offer on his blog www.mindfultorah.blogspot.com.
