People love themselves and other people despite those who claim they would rather be alone. Companionship and self-worth sort of go hand-in-hand when understanding the continuum of progress and evolution needs spectators and participators. Are you a spectator or participator ? In the middle is where we as humans are today, imho. Moved slightly away from the beasts and not quite near to the gods. In 'imperfection towards perfection' the process takes several twists and turns unlike a typical straight-line continuum.
