Dear Mario Dubois,

I lead an online laboratory, Minciu Sodas, http://www.ms.lt for serving and
organizing independent thinkers. I am on a road trip to meet independent
thinkers in the UK and came to Manchester as a center for innovative
business. I stumbled across your BBC offices and was told you would be the
best person to speak with about how our participants (100 active and 1,000
supportive around the world) might help the BBC engage the public in new
ways.

I am writing from the homes4u.com Internet cafe next door and I will try
again to meet you later this afternoon. If you are free, please write or
call at 07748185295.

It would be great to meet with you or somebody at your office. Our members
value BBC and are very keen to work with you. I share some notes from my
travels with you. I CC one of our gateways:

Last night we stayed at TheFarm lead by Kate O'Connell. It's a bar in a rural
area near the North Sea where bands play and which they are trying to buy. We
talked about videobridging. This evening we meet with Steve Knight in
Manchester (he's an expert on timebanks) and then travel to Wales. If we're
lucky, we'll meet with Jim Killock, a Welsh nationalist active in green
issues.

I share news from my travels in the UK in search of independent thinkers.
Thanks to Markus Petz for thinkers who we will try to engage. Please reply
to me at ms@... if you might like to meet up! I also share my letter with
various groups at our Minciu Sodas http://www.ms.lt open laboratory for
independent thinkers:

- Wednesday, May 17 I travel by bus to Milton-Keynes where I will meet with
Niall Sclater of their Virtual learning development programme, which is
based
on Moodle. I will spend the evening and the night in Cambridge.
- Thursday, May 18 I meet with Markus Petz and we start our road trip.
- Friday, May 19 we try to find somebody to meet in Manchester at
TheCooperativeBank, ThePhoneCoop and the Cooperative Union.
- Saturday, May 20 we drive to Aberystwyth on the west coast of Wales where
Martin Koehring studied.
- Sunday, May 21 we'll probably drive through South Wales, perhaps meet up
with John Rogers and John Waters.
- Monday, May 22 with Steve Cayzer of Hewlett-Packard labs in Bristol.
Then I probably continue myself to Dorset, Prince Charles's village
Poundbury
and to visit Christopher Alexander in Chichester if that is possible.
Likely
back in London to meet with Leon Benjamin again for business contacts. Then
on to Brussels (Nadia McLaren and Tony Judge if they are free), Solingen
(Germany), Luxemburg, Ulm.

I also wish to thank those who I was able to meet yesterday and today:
- Tom Salfield of http://open.coop at The Hub (which is a shared business
space of the kind that Shannon Clark http://www.jigzaw.com is interested in
organizing in Silicon Valley). I will dedicate $200 and back up 40 hours of
time (much as we did with the chocolate project) to get help to create
PHP/MySQL (or comparable) web pages that would help us return to letters or
other urls which any one of us thinks is outstanding. The web page will let
us select the letter (or enter its url from the archives) and add tags
(including "request for help", "offer of services", "thank you" and also
wiki
page titles such as peoples names), notes. Who might help or lead, please
speak up! We will design this so that it might be used for all
participating
Public Domain venues and accessed through the Open Coop site as well as
others
so that we have a shared network.
- James Hulme, Education, The Prince's Foundation for the Built Environment
- Martin Koehring gave many contacts, we spoke about his key concept "Living
by faith"
- Leon Benjamin - excellent business discussions on services we might
provide
for corporations, why they might be interested in public repositories for
personal experiences, how that opens up new business opportunities based on
old successes such as a furniture company collecting examples of everyday
living recurring activities that would help it compete in the built
environment as well.
- Pamela McLean of http://www.cawd.net linking with Nigeria on ICT and
education and more. She is using Moodle. Also, I spoke last night with Jeff
Buderer of OneVillage.biz, we had a good conversation and I will write more
at Back to the Root where I will assume leadership for a while and present
my
vision as we hammer out a social protocol to encourage openness amongst all
manner of venues.
- Richard Murray of http://www.neweconomics.org is interested in how to
measure the circulation of other economic dimensions, not just money.
Richard, I wonder if you're aware of TheHopeStreetGroup's recent work in
America.
- Olive Lee of SLAM (working in mental health) introduced me to Fushia
Peters, she is interested in "peak experiences".

All for now!

Andrius
