The Militant Tendency was the most successful revolutionary socialist organisation in recent years, by initiating and leading the mass campaign of non-payment that defeated the poll tax (a flat rate tax for local serives officially called the "Community Charge") and forced the Tories to replace Margaret Thatcher and the Prime Minister of the UK.

These actions of the Militant Tendency were instrumental to the development of the Scottish Socialist Party (SSP), which now has six members of the Scottish parliament (MSPs).

The International Socialist Movement platform of the SSP, a revolutionary socialist organisation that is the former name for Scottish Militant Labour (as Militant became known when it abandoned "entrism" within the Labour Party in Scotland), has three of those MSPs and provides the theoretical leadership for the SSP.

I have handed out leaflets in the names of Manchester International Socialist Movement and the North West International Socialist Movement, but they are unofficial and virtual groups at the moment.
