Hello! My King line comes mostly from Sequatchie County. My
grandfather was Robert Lee King of Sequatchie and Warren Counties
(McMinnville). He married Lillie Mabel (Mae) Cooley who's mother was
Lucy Caroline Hoge (also spelled Hogue). We're at a brick wall with
Lucy but are doing good on the King side so far.

If anyone has a line on Lucy, I'd love to hear from you!

I'm trying to find out about some marriages from Tennessee probably
around Franklin County. These are the people
William P. Davis (b) 1855 or 1856
James E Davis (b) 1856 or 1857
Nancy C.Davis (b) 1861
Thomas A Davis (b) 1864
So I'm thinking at least after 1880 because the whole family is still
together in the 1880 census
Thank you

What county was he in in Missouri? I looked in the 1900 to see if I
could find him to compare to those in the 1880 in TN which you might
want to check if he could have still been in TN.

That could help to narrow down the county or counties in which they may

Hi Joe

Welcome to the group. Have you been able to find your Mary Ann
Pennington in the 1880 census? The 1880 census transcription done by
the LDS is online at www.familysearch.org (select search tab and then
census) From the info you mentioned she should prob. still be living
at home with parents maybe since she would be about 5 years old. If
you know any of her siblings names that could help narrow it down if
there are more than one which there might be.

Hope this helps

My g grandfather was Meredith CAVIN born abt 1848 in either Franklin or
Lincoln co, TN. He was orphaned at about 8 years of age and was
apprenticed out to the Conner H Bean family. Any info would be much
appreciated. I do believe Meredith's mother may have been a slave as I
had a DNA test done and was suprised to learn that along with Irish,
Scott and Native American, I am 6% Sub-Sarahan Africian. Family stories
have Meredith living with the slaves at the Bean household. In the 1860
census he was listed as Conner Bean's son and listed as white.

Hey to y'all!
I have been researching my family tree on and off for a number of years
and still can't come up with much of anything on my father's mother,
Clyde Estell(e) Bennett who was born in Giles County, TN and her
husband, Archie Bozeman; nor on my mother's father, Albert Marcie
Fitzgerald. The story I always heard about my mother's father was that
his father, Frank Anderson left him with a Fitzgerald family and they
raised him. I haven't been able to ascertain whether he was adopted
legally or just took on the Fitzgerald name because they raised him.
Anyone interested in the Beard surname or Fisher surname I have some
information on them.
Take care and have a wonderful day!

Do you have Louise's census entry for 1920?

If her parents were Nicholas & Carrie Peach
she was enumerated in the 1920 census in
Williamson Co. TN, Dist 6, pg 105 and the
family lived on Forest Hill Road if the census
takers info is correct. If you need the census

I was thrilled to find this group this morning. My sister and I are
fairly new to genealogy and although we've gathered a lot of
information quickly, we are having a tough time with some of our
Tennessee kinfolk due to the fact that our great-grandfather was
adopted/taken in by the Douglas' family of Maury County, TN in 1880.
We have accounts with ancestry.com and have gathered all the obvious
information from their site and posted on all the obvious message
boards, so I'm hoping this site might offer us some new leads.

Some of the names from Maury County that we are researching are:

Douglas
Douglass
Baily
Bailey
Howard
Nelson
Pope
Dugger

The names that I am most interested in are Baily/Bailey and Dugger.
We're trying to sort through the mystery of who our great-
grandfather's parents were and about the only thing we know is he had
a brother named John Baily (all photos spelled with no "e"). Our
great-grandfather's name was Charles Alexander Douglas b.1877 d.1953
in Maury County. He left Tennessee around 1897 and moved to Fort
Worth, TX where he later married Elizabeth Pearl McClure. They
returned to TN and lived in various places in the Shelby County area.

We have a lot of info on the Douglas', but Charles seems to have some
connection to the Dugger family because all of his photos, prior to
1900, have the name Charles Dugger written on the back.

If anyone can help with(or even add to *laugh*)the mystery we would
appreciate your input.
