Yes, Marie... that is the family. The 2 year-old child is probably
Cassa rather than Carra.

Zachariah G. Summers and Elizabeth Newman married in Rutherford on
August 14, 1842, with Justice of the Peace Lewis Harrell officiating.

In the 1870 census they have a 7-year old child, James Lawrence. He
is my wife's grandfather, who grew up to be first a schoolteacher,
and then after attending the Physicians and Surgeons College in
Memphis, a physician, practicing in Izard and Baxter Counties in
Arkansas.

Hey when checking robertson county also check sumner. The lines changed. White
House is in both counties. Traveling from Nashville to Gallatin, you go through
robertson twice then back to davidson then into Sumner

I agree on that. You should always check surrounding counties.

Examples from my lines
Family that lived in southeast part of Bedford Co. is also in some Coffee
Co. Records
Family that lived in northwest part of Bedford Co. is in Rutherford &
Marshall Co. Records
Family that lived in northwest part of Van Buren Co. TN is in White &
Warren Co. Records

Maybe my family just had a knack for living near the county line. :)

Also land grants, can be in different counties. My grt. grt. grandfather lived
in Smith County, but his grant was for White. And guess what, all his kids were
born in White. But he is buried in Smith.

Another useful hint, given to me a long time ago. When checking census records,
look at least 5 families before and after. They went to school together,
neighbors, often intermarried, and even sometimes moved as a group.

If you will give me the time period involved and an idea of the yr they were
born I'll see what I can do. Also if you know the county that would help
narrow it down.

1913.

Yes I've ran across alot of "alternative" spellings in many of my surnames.
Then when you have someone trying to index the poor handwriting it can be
pretty difficult to filter thru all of it and find your families

Even my Hale surname has ALOT of
different spellings....
It's amazing. Then you throw in the fact
that my at least two of my Hales were
named William.....and well.....that makes it even harder.
Still gotta keep searching though

She has been looking at Copley's. But, I believe a few more branches
of our tree have come from Middle Tn.

Though new to this list, I'm not new when it comes to researching
Middle TN families. Both my father's and mother's ancestors came
through here.

My main website page is at:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/index.html

I have 3 surname sections which are Middle TN specific families:

IN AEBNIT - ATNIP
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/atnip.html

MEARS
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/mears/wm1.html

John DAVIS and Abigail DUNCAN Descendants
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/davis.html

DeKalb Co., TN Resource Site and my Cemetery pages

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/tn/links_dekalb.ht
ml

Also, I have 3 gedcoms which are DeKalb Co., TN and general area
specific on World Connects:

1) Abnet, ATNIP, Atnipp Inabnit, Inabnitt
http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown3

2) CARUTHERS-COLE-DAVIS-DUNCAN-KELLY-LAURANCE/LAWRENCE-PAFFORD
http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown8

3) ALLEN - PAGE - LAWSON
http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown9

And on my Jobe Legacy Gedcom, there are several Jobe descendnats who
lived very early in Warren Co., TN and later some Logue/Hillis who
lived in the Van Buren Co., TN area.

I have traced my Family to Tennessee and have hit a brickwall. I am
looking for info on:
Benjamin Nordin Born in TN abt 1855
Martha Nordin (maiden Name unknown) born abt 1859 Wife of Ben
Mervin or Marvin E Nordin Born abt 1885
Vada Nordin Born abt 1890
Maude Nordin born abt 1892 in TN
Bela or Bella E Nordin Born abt abt 1887
Gilan Nordin Born abt 1882

I have found in several census listings that my last name is spelled
incorrectly so any of the variations could produce the results I am
looking for. Benjamin and his family show up in the 1920 Census for
Hopkins county in Texas but I can't locate them in Texas before that.
I show them as being born in TN but haven't been able to locate
anything to that shows them there. Any help would be appreciated.
