PPG v Doodlebug.

It would appear that if you want to go PPG you can ... directly... however
if you want to mess with a Doodlebug you have to learn first on hang gliders
then convert as no-one just trains you direct on the bug.

Is that the case?

BJ

I know a couple of contented Doodle Bug pilots of 100kg+.
The problem with the other information is
(a) as far as other wings are concerned, they can be fitted to a very
wide range of hang glders, and not all combinations have been tried.
(b) as far as training is concerned, the market is pretty small, so it's
not possible to sustain a full-time operation.
In both cases, if you're interested, give them a ring, and you will get
information tailored to your needs.

Just been hawking around the Doodlebug and PPG sites looking at the
various thingies on the go - looks to me like the Doodlebug is built for
waifs of 70kg while the PPG offers up to 120kg - although it does not
say whether that is a combined pilot/gear combination or not.

Another thing missing from the sites is further information on training.
One thing specifically missing on the Doodlebug site within Flylight,
apart from the training requirements, is what wings do what and the
costs of them in addition to the bug itself.

Good to see that the PPG's now have a 4 stroke option with the quieter
noise levels this will bring.

It would have been nice to go look at a microlight helicopter too.
