The Michigan Society for Swing and Hustle Dancers will hold their
monthly dance Sunday, August 13, at Woodfield Country Club in Grand
Blanc, MI.  A cha cha lesson will be taught at 3 pm by national swing
champion, Bob Budzynski, and the party will be from 4-7 pm.

Admission is $5.00 for members of MSSHD, GLSDC and MSDA(please bring
your cards) and $8.00 for guests.  There is a $2.00 discount for
members wearing an MSSHD club shirt.  Shirts may be purchased at the
door and will qualify for the discount.

A light meal will be offered for $5.00 and a cash will be available.

Dress code:  NO jeans or tennis shoes.  Please wear leather or dance
shoes to protect our beautiful new floor.

June 24 - Swing dance with competition to be held at the St. John
Festival of Flags, Knights of Columbus Grounds, 8428 Davison Rd.,
Davision, MI.  The dance runs from 2 - 5 pm with the competitions
interspersed. Free admission to the tent.  Competitors - $6.00 per

Beginning east coast swing will be taught this summer by Bob and
Beverly Budzynski starting June 15 and will run for seven weeks.  The
lessons will be held at the Grand Blanc Middle School Gym, Grand

On June 4th, Tera Gehring, our Mid U. S. Jack and Jill champion, will
teach 3 workshops and host a swing dance party.

The workshop schedule is:

1 pm  Spins and turns for men and women
2 pm  Hitting the breaks in West Coast Swing
3 pm  West Coast Syncopations

$15.00 for one workshop, $25.00 for two and $35.00 for all.

4 - 9 pm  Swing dance party.
Admission to dance is $3.00 if you attend all three workshops, $5.00

This event will be held at the Millwright Hall on Mound Road between
9 and 10 Mile.

Dear Dancers,

We are holding our 4th annual Petoskey Party for dancers May 26-28 at
the Terrace Inn, Petoskey, MI.  This is a quaint Victorian hotel.
Each year we have been sold out and this year is no exception.

However, we have just heard from two couples who are forced to
cancel.  If interested, please read the following.

The weekend package is $240.00 a couple and includes - hotel room for
Fri and Sat night, breakfast for Fri and Sat and dinner Saturday
evening.  In addition, there is a Fri night dance party with a dessert
extravaganza and a Saturday night dance party.  Dance workshops will
be taught by Bob and Beverly Budzynski(west coast swing) and Tom
DesJardin and Lisa Leino(east coast swing and foxtrot) on Sat and Sun
mornings.  Golf is an extra charge and about 30 golfers will play on
Sat afternoon.  Others will shop or relax.

The Flint Downtown Optimists Club will host a dinner/dance on April 8,
at Broadstreet North, G-6378 Pierson Rd, Flushing, MI.  The event is
from 6 pm to midnight with dinner being served at 6:45pm.

Bob Budzynski will be the DJ and he will play 50's tunes as well as
selections from his famous collection of dance music.

To reach the Club from I-69, exit at M-15 and go south to the first
light.  Turn right onto Lippincott Blvd and then turn left in the
first driveway.  From the Detroit area, travel north on I-75 and exit

contest, dinner and social dance to be held this Saturday, March 25 at

March 12 - The Michigan Society for Swing and Hustle Dancers (MSSHD)
will be holding it's monthly dance from 4-7pm at the Davison Country
Club, located on the corner of M-15 and Lippincott Blvd, Flint,
Mi.(just S of I-69).  Nightclub Two Step will be taught at a free
lesson at 3pm.  Admission is $5.00 for members and $8.00 for guests.
Come and meet the other swing and hustle dancers in Mid-Michigan.

March 25 - Come join the biggest swing and hustle party in Michigan!
It will be an evening of social dancing, dinner, Jack & Jill contests
and a chance to dance and mingle with dancers from throughout the
midwest.  The swing J&J categories are:  beginner swing and advanced
swing. There will be an invitational swing and  contestants have all
ready been invited based on past wins and ability.  So far, there are
entrants are from MI, MN, IL and OH.  Hustle categories are
intermediate and advanced hustle.  Tickets are $39.00 which includes
dinner.  MSSHD and MSDA members price is $36.00.  Please purchase your
tickets by Mar 22.  This event will take place at the Woodfield Country
Club, Grand Blanc, Mi and doors will open at 5:30pm.  Dinner will be
served at 6:30pm and J&J's interspersed with social dancing will follow.

Many of us are going to the Lafayette Grande in Pontiac for the dance
and lindy competition.  This will be a fun evening for only $10.00 per
person.

Driving directions from I-75 from the Flint area:
      Take I-75 south to US-24/Dixie Hwy exit
      Turn right onto Dixie Hwy/US-24.  Go about 10 miles.
      Dixie Hwy/US becomes Oakland Ave/US-24
      Stay on Oakland Ave for .01 miles
      Turn right onto Lafayette St.  The address is One Lafayette.

      Get off I-75 at M-59 WEST exit and merge onto MI-59 W

Our dancing friend, Tom Pogros, tells us that Burn the Floor, will be
playing at the Foxx Theater in Detroit April 25 to April 29.  Tickets

This will be a ballroom production but will be of interest to all
dancers.

We're Bob and Beverly Budzynski, directors of the Michigan Dance
Classic and the Michigan Society for Swing and Hustle Dancers, our
local dance club in Mid-Michigan.

Each year we sponsor the Michigan Dance Classic and the Mid-United
States Jack & Jill.  We also promote many dances each year through our
club.  Dancers from all over American attend some of our functions.

We also teach many workshops and private lessons and are available to

Due to President's Day Holiday weekend, there will be no classes in
Flushing on Feb 18 and none in Holly on Feb 21.  Classes will resume
the following week.

February 13 - Michigan Society for Swing and Hustle Dancers' monthly
dance will be held Sunday, at Davison Country Club from 4-7 pm.  A free
lesson will be given at 3 pm.  Davison Country Club is located at the
corner of Lippincott Blvd and M-15 just south of I-69.  There will be a
cash bar and a light buffet for $5.00.  Free coffee is available
throughout the party and free desserts will be served at 5:30 pm.
Ladies are invited to wear red to celebrate Valentine's Day.  Admission

next monthly dance.

February 16 - Championship Ballroom will be aired Wednesday, Feb 16 on
PBS.  This event is filmed in Columbus, OH and features some of
America's best ballroom dancers.  Check your TV guide for local listing
and set your VCR.

February 18 - Whiting Auditorium, Flint, Mi presents Swingtime.  Call

February 26 - A bus trip to the Soaring Eagle is planned to leave Grand
Blanc at 10 am will leave Mt Pleasant at 5 pm.  Cost is $6.00 for MSSHD

March 3 - Many of us are planning to attend Friday's dance of a three
day dance weekend called March Madness.  The Friday dance features the
band, Tuxedo Junction, and admission is $10.00.  It will be held at the
Lafayette Grande, One Lafayette, Pontiac, MI ( 2 blocks n of Huron).
The entire weekend cost $125.00 and includes workshops, competitions

Set your VCR's for the Rosie O'Donnell show on Feb 1 and record the
last dance of the broadway show, Swing.  Many top swing dancers
including our good friends Robert Royston, Laureen Baldovi, Beverly
Durand and Ryan Francois will perform.

Flint area news

There will be a swing dance at 2pm on Jan 30 at the Davison Country
Club.  This will be a fund raiser for the Tenth Life, Inc and the
proceeds will be used to support cats.  Admission is $5.00.  Buffet and
cash bar available.

Dance classes

All classes are full except at Carman.  Beginners will be at 6 pm.
Beginning west coast swing at 7 pm and Hustle at 8 pm.  Call 591-3600
