available for this great party.

It's our Petoskey (MI) Party. It all happens this weekend up in
Petoskey Michigan. This party includes:

Friday - Opening Dance Party with lots of goodies to eat.
          Starts about 7:00 p.m. and goes until?

Saturday - 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. Breakfast
            10:00 a.m. Workshop - West Coast Swing
            11:00 a.m. Workshop - TBA
            12:00 - 6:00 p.m. *Golf Outing/Shopping/Casino
            7:00 p.m. Formal Dinner

Hello to you all!

1. Some of you received a correction on directions to our BIG BARN
DANCE. The problem was that you were NOT MSSHD club members and so
did not receive a newsletter with all the info. in it. So here it is:

The BIG BARN DANCE is this Sunday.  It's located in the south end of
Fenton MI. It starts at 4:00 p.m. Take US-23 to Owen Rd. Go east
until it dead-ends. Turn right and go until it dead-ends. Turn left
and follow until you run into Tipsico Lake Rd. Follow it to the BIG
RED BARN. From I-75, you get off on Holly Rd. (near Mt. Holly) and
follow until it goes into Fenton MI. When you arrive at the main
street which is Leroy St. you turn left and follow until it dead-
ends. Turn left until you run into Tipsico Lake Rd. and follow to
the BIG RED BARN. It is a "Pot Luck" so bring that special item
you're so good at making. Hamburgers, Hot Dogs & condiments are
provided as well as plates, cups, ice,etc.  We will have either
signs or balloons posted at the driveway. It will truly be a "BLAST"

For those of you attending the "Michigan Dance Classic" please note
that the hotel is sold out for Thursday night. Friday and Saturday
rooms are on our room block. You MUST mention "Michigan Dance
Classic" to receive the preferred rate. Econo-Lodge of Dearborn,

We will have a NEW BEAUTIFUL DANCE FLOOR for our event this year. It
is going to be 3200 sq. ft. of unmatched excellence. You will talk
about the floor for a long time. No nails, screws, metal seams, just
gorgeous dance floor. It is not a master floor, it is a CHAMPION
DANCE FLOOR. Your feet will love it!

We are reserving the seats on a first come basis. You need not
request Gold, Silver or Bronze. The only other exception is the
PLATINUM seats which cost $10.00 more and are directly in the center
of the seating area facing the stage. Only 12 of those remain so if

Jackie & Charlie will not be attending our event due to some family
health issues. (Not theirs) We have been fortunate to have world
country champions, Albert Tailleur & Penny Lalonde in our area so
they will be taking Charlie and Jackie's place doing a workshop on

Those of you with a 3 day ticket may attend all of the workshops on
Friday at no extra charge. The three workshops start at 2:00 p.m.
The first workshop will be with Fred & Tina Price teacfhing their

We are retiring from the Michigan Dance Classic. As a result, we are
giving your email to Phil Dorroll of the Nashville Classic, who will

It's time for MSSHD's monthly dance party to be held at the American

Yes, it's finally here. It's our biggest dance of the year. We'll
have lots of goodies, as it is a Pot Luck affair,(if you're not sure
what to bring,hot foods are always welcome favorites) some fabulous
demonstrations including the "World Fast Dance Champions" and several
other special demonstrations just for you. Social dancing will be the
main theme though so clean off those dancing shoes and be ready to
boogie. Bob has found some fantastic Christmas Swing Music so the
Holiday spirit will be celebrated all evening long. As always, the
dance will be at the American Dance Center, 2321 Corunna Rd. (about 1
mile East of I-75, just past Zimmerman School) It all starts at 7:00
p.m. and will last long into the evening. All clubs fees are $7.00

Our annual "Petoskey Party" will be coming up this Memorial weekend.
The dates are May 28-30, 2004. You may have not heard of this event
previously as it's usually sold out a year in advance. This year,
however, due to folks moving, health issues etc., we have some rooms
available. The cost is $145.00 per person for MSSHD members and
$165.00 for all others. (It's cheaper to join the club and then sign
up for Petoskey than is is to pay the $165.00)

We buy the entire hotel (the Terrace Inn) in Bayview, a suburb of

Saturday starts out with a lovely continental plus breakfast

Dear Dancers,

The Valentine's Dance in Lake Orion has been cancelled - not enough
advance reservations.

We are disappointed!!  We were just getting up a nice group for a
night of fun.  Anyone have any ideas for a group outing?

Hi Dancaers:

Well, we have decided upon a plan! We're going to go to the
Canterbury Castle to have dinner at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and then
trek down to the Amber House Ballroom for an evening of dancing.
Amber House is offering a special of "Ladies Free and Gentlemen
$7.00. Canterbury Castle is located at 2325 Joslyn Rd in Lake Orion.
You can call for directions at 248-391-5780. After dinner, we can
cavelcade down to the Amber House or we can just give you
directions. It's located on 9 Mile between Mound and Van Dyke Rds.
Let us know at your earliest so we can make the reservations.

Hello Dancers,

You're invited to MSSHD's monthly swing dance party this Saturday,
2/21,04 at the American Dance and Fitness Center, 2321 Corunna Rd,
Flint, MI.

The doors open at 7pm and admission is $7.00 for members of MSSHD,
MSDA and GLSDC.  Guests are $10.00.

The theme is Rhapsody in Red so if you can, please wear something
red.  If you'd like to contribute to the dessert table, feel free to
do that too.

Please bring your own drinks.  We will provide the cups and ice.

We looking forward to seeing all our friends and we hope some new
people will attend.  It promises to be a good time!

P.S. We are going to the GREAT LAKES DANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS on Friday
2/20/04 They have a dance on Friday night that starts at 7:00 p.m.
It's located at 130 E. Drahner Rd in Oxford, MI just East of Lapeer
Rd. It should be lots of fun. You can contact Laura or Kelly , the
directors at 248-814-8898. We'll be judging some of the Lindy
competition held that night along with the social dancing.
