This group has been formed to provide a forum in which serious (though not necessarily humorless!) discussion may take place between those who have some degree of familiarity with or interest in the history, lore, cultures, appearance, geography and/or personalities of Los Angeles and its area from 1930 through 1990. Topics and material appropriate to post would be those concerned with the above and related matters, either casual short ponderings or extended papers—either early drafts or final drafts; unfamiliar source material; translations of pertinent documents; attempted i.d.s of pictures or sites; preservation issues, sites, and museums related to the above; and relevant observations and questions. Inappropriate postings would be: Current politics; soliciting for donations, subscriptions, and the like; slurs of cultures or peoples; belabored disagreements; discourtesy; belligerant postings; and social chit-chat. The group will be very lightly moderated to guard against trollish behavior; members who make inappropriate postings will lose their status.
