According to local reports, utilities are reporting widespread power outages in the region, after Hurricane Dennis made landfall.
At least 237,000 homes and businesses are without power on the Florida panhandle.
Escambia County Administrator, GeorgeTouart, said the hardest-hit area of the county was ola Beach, where a tangled mess of downed power lines blocked access east and west of the business core.
In the Beach area, electricity, water and sewer service are not available.
