This is Moccasin Bend where the Melungeons who came from the Pee Dee River area settled when they came to Tennessee. They are the first and only known people found in court records called Melungeons by their neighbors as early as the 1850s. Some researchers have called them "Imaginary Melungeons" but their documentation and history is hard to dispute.
