Description

The rules of Jugger are based on the film Salute of the Jugger.

Aim of the game is to get a substitute for a dog skull (called a Jugg) to a goal to score a point. The Jugg starts in the middle of the field and may only be carried by the runners.

On either end of the field is one of these goals, placing the Jugg on it gives one point to the team of the scoring runner. Throwing or kicking the Jugg on to it is not counted.

At the start of the game, every player chooses a weapon - staff weapon, short weapons, long sword and one player per team may carry a chain weapon. The runners get no weapons.

The team-members that are armed and have to guard their runner as well as fight a way for them through the opponents so the runner can be the first to get to the Jugg, grab it and run through to the opponents marking to score.

During the game one has to try to tag their opponents with their weapon and avoid getting tagged at the same time. Of course the players don't just beat up each other. The safety and health of the players do come first - that's why weapons are padded and there are referees.

If any player gets tagged by a weapon that player has to kneel down immediately.

Once a runner fought their way through the opponents and placed the Jugg into the stake, the team gets a point and all players retake their starting positions. A game consists of three thirds each lasting about five minutes. The victor is proclaimed after the overall time.
