The final restoration of the "Medway Queen" paddle steamer is eventually still going to be in the hands of the people. This ship is known as the "Heroine of Dunkirk" by saving 7,000 men, she supported the cause then, and we hope the nation is going to support her more so now. We have been awarded a Lottery Grant to restore the hull, the project has but just started, funds now need to be raised to complete the restoration. This could be considerable, so no sitting back at present. can we all play a better part? one way is by arguing her cause, by not accepting the apathy that exists in the UK today, view the Medway Queen website found on the 'Links'. Then feel free to ask questions or make suggestions on this project.
The photo is the Medway Queen at Damhead Creek, Hoo, near Rochester, minus her funnel, but still looking good. But is now to be rebuilt at Abel's Dockyard, Bristol.
