Re: [meditation_research] How to build up one-pointed concentration

Hi

I started with what  directed meditation or seed meditation. That is for the purpose of stopping thoughts. I focus on a symbol with my eyes closed. If any thought comes in, I focus more on the symbol. After a couple of weeks I go to regular meditation,. I shift my energy into my heart chakra after closing my eyes. I focus on my breathing at first as I go nto a light trance and into nothingess. when in nothingness the thoughts tend ot go away. I often fall asleep after awhile though.Put a large crystal on your heart aor ahnd on your heart and focus your cosnciousness there and get out of your head. Try to turn off the brain. Listen to meditaiton CDs. Go to group meditation. I have found it is easier to get to higher levels in groups.

I have been meditating for 30-minutes every day for about 2 years. However, I have never been able to concentrate and by around 15 to 20-minutes, my mind will start to become restless, and the rest of the 15 minutes is just not "meditation" at all. If my method of meditation is to focus on the 3-inch point below the navel, any advice on how can I improve my focus on this point (based on your past experience) ?

Thank you Jeffrey. It is so true. I tell people who are interested in meditation that the "little" mind (i.e., the brain)  is like a camera. If you focus on...
