Subject: RE: Meeting with Mid-City Neighborhood Organization
Richard, Kent & Alton:
I'm sending this note as a follow-up to yesterday's HCDRC hearing, in whichVREI requested and received a two-week deferral for your demolition hearing. Based on Richard's statements, the deferral was requested to allow VREI time to meet with Dr. Blakely's office to work on redevelopment plans for the area.
This is encouraging news.
One HCDRC Committee member specifically requested that discussions with the Office of Recovery Management also include representatives from the neighborhood.
Dr. Blakely -
The Mid-City Neighborhood Organization will provide appropriate representatives at your convenience to participate in this process. The Mid-City Plan, the Lambert Plan and the UNOP Plan all contain pertinent information to the area in question. Our board members are intimately familiar with these plans as we continue to rebuild a better Mid-City. We thank you for the opportunity to work with your office.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Weishaupt

Importance: High
Richard, Kent & Alton,
In accordance with the deferral of the demolition hearing for 301 N. Jefferson Davis Parkway for a period of two-weeks, I provide the below information.
The next scheduled MCNO community meeting is Monday December 3rd from 6:30 - 8pm, at Grace Episcopal Church, 3700 Canal Street. If this date and time do not fit your schedule, propose an alternative, and we will do our best to accomodate you.
Items that we would be like presented:
1- Update on redevelopment plans
2- Timeline for redevelopment (i.e. following the proposed demolition, when do you expect to begin construction)
3 - Public funds that you are seeking
4- Plans for demolition
Since this is an extensive list, written responses in advance of a meeting would likely help keep the meeting as efficient as possible.
Once we agree a date, time and location, we will invite representatives of our Council members offices, and ask that you invite your representative from Office of Recovery Management.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Weishaupt
