MBA Women Lawyers is an unofficial section of the Mobile Bar Association which dates back to the 1970s. Back when there were only a handful of women practicing law in Mobile, the late Alice M. Meadows (1923-1995) prompted these women to begin meeting for lunch on a regular basis so they could share advice and support one another. These lunch meetings took hold and eventually became more formalized. Women Lawyers now meets once a month, elects officers, participates in various charitable projects, and offers CLE credit. One thing has not changed, however, and that is the unique networking opportunity provided to those who attend the monthly meetings and other events.

Women Lawyers meets at noon on the first Tuesday of every month (unless it falls on or near a holiday) at the Bienville Club. The cost of lunch is $16.00 (checks payable to MBA Women Lawyers). We usually have a speaker talk about some law-related topic during lunch, and we seek approval from the Alabama State Bar for CLE credit.

Anyone who wants to can become a member of Women Lawyers. Dues are $25.00 per year and must be renewed each January. To join or to renew your membership, simply fill out a Membership Application (available in the "Files" section of this site) and submit this along with your $25.00 dues payment to P.O. Box 131, Mobile, AL 36601. Make checks payable to MBA Women Lawyers.
