I have two Mf-12 hydros and have been looking for
new filters. Apparently they are discontinued through
Massey. I also checked NAPA with no luck.
Anyone have
a stockpile of these or know another source? NAPA
could get some engine parts including
air filters,
gaskets, std. piston and ring sets. They also show a .010
undesize rod for HH-120 which was $35.00 which seemed
pretty reasonable.
It looked like they had some parts
for most of the models.Hard to get an undersize rod
through Tecumseh anymore.
It doesn't look like anyone has seen many of the
hydraulic lift options. Just wondering if anyone has seen
any front end loaders on these tractors?
I
purchased one. Not sure what it fit originally, but it has
been modified to fit a Cub. Looks like it should work
well on a MF-10 or MF-12. Just thought someone might
have information on how it should attach to the
tractor.Thanks - Jim W
You are right...VERY RARE! I've only seen one in
the many years I've been messing around with the red
and grey, and most of that was missing! The optional
linkage was there, but the hydraulic parts were gone. Let
me know how you do on this... I too would like to
know how (if) it works! Jim
Just wondered if anyone has the hydraulic lift option on their MF-10 or MF-12 or
has seen one.
I understand it is a very rare option and I was curious if it
worked well. Thanks - Jim W
Kevin,
Here is a list of the year/sn# for
reference.
1969 SN# started at 1446 506953
1970 Sn# started at
1446 511402
1971 SN# started at 1446 515384
My
'69 Tecumseh Engine model# is HH120-120045B, and the
SN# is 9002 08035. I'll be working on getting the
earlier and later SN# list for everyone to have. I know
the MF12 started as early as '67 because I have a
equipment line brochure, and they restyled the 12 in the
later years with a different style rear fender. The
triple diamond logo was changed starting with the 1971
model year, by removing the Ferguson tractor off the
top triangle.
Pat
Kevin... At a later date, Massey stopped making
the "10"and hydro 12, and went to a "12G",(I think
'74, not sure) which means "gear drive". They also
stopped the "7" and "16" at this point, so if you wanted
a hydro, you need a 8 or 14. The 12G was the same
as the old 10 with gear drive. Look for a chrome
muffler guard on the 12G. Also, Massey stopped putting
the small tractor and plow on the triangle emblem in
the later editions.
Hope this helps... Jim
Hi guys, I called my local dealer with the #s off
my MF12 to find out what year it is and they said it
was a 1975 or 1976.Then I went to a different dealer
to get a manual for it and he tells me that they
quite production of the MF12 in 1973 and started
poduction of the MF14 and MF16 to replace it.Here is the #s
from the tractor: 1446516197 and the engine #s are:
HH120-120D45C and the sereal #: 0338E.Can someone tell me the
year of this? Thanks for any info you can give.Kevin
Kevin,
The decals I have in stock are all
reproduction, that I personally supervised the production of,
and made these with my own MF12 in mind.
The NOS
decals are getting extremely rare, and very
expensive.
E-mail me at jd44la@... and I'll send you a
copy of what I have in stock.
Thanks
Pat
Pat, are your decals NOS or reprints?I have a MF12 with the hydro speed that I
will need decals for, also will need decals for the mower deck. How much do you
get for them. Kevin
Just to let everyone know, I can help out with a
nice variety of decals to restore your 7, 8, 10, 12,
14, 16. Plus I had some T's and ball caps made up
with the old logo and some other goodies. Working on
steering wheel caps and the prototype looks nice.
Pat
Pat, Thanks for the new site... I've been into
the red&greys for 10 years. I've restored 7's, 8's
10's,12's and a 1450(piece of junk!) I've got a 14 and 16
right now, and could use a set of decals (hood) for the
14. I'll take a set from a 10 or 12, if you've only
got those... I'll find a way to make do. Thanks
again... I'll send some pictures of my past work, if you
want... Jim
Tyler, make sure both the belts that ride in the
variable sheaves are in about the same condition... that
is, don't try to replace just one belt... they must
work together very well, or you'll have problems. Also,
check for a "wear ridge" in the shaft on which this
sheave slides If that checks out, post here again...
I'll try to send you a copy of the "tune-up" info for
that situation. Jim
Hiya gang,

I'll try to add a bunch of pics
a.s.a.p. Yahoo informs me my browser is an old clunker
that doesn't support uploads. (Yeah, right... but it's
their game, their rules, right?)

Don
I am expiriencing a few problems with the
variable speed on my # 12. It is supposed to have 5 speeds
in every gear, but when you push the lever from the
4th speed to the 5th speed, nothing happens and it
stays in 4th speed. I took the side panel off and spent
a little wile under the machine on a creeper, but i
cant seem to find were my problem is. There is a lot
of linkage under there, but something must need
adjusted. Any information about this is GREATLY
appriciated. Thanks in advance. Tyler Hall
Hi guys, just wanted to say that I have been
looking for a site like this for awhile now.Glad to have
found it.I have a MF12 that I bought not long ago and
am planing to restore it soon. This will be my first
tractor to restore so I will probably have lots of ?s for
you. Thanks for getting a good site up and running. Kevin
R,
Sounds like you got the Onan tore apart. I
would suggest taking the engine block to a reputable
Onan dealer/repair station and ask away. Have him give
you a written estimate on a bore/crank grind and
parts needed, if necessary. Might want to consider the
condition of your carb also, some carbs throttle shaft wear
into the housing after a lot of hours. Not real big
into Onan's yet but working on it. Hope this
helps.
Can anyone else out there offer advice
please?
Best of luck
Pat
Don,
As far as I can tell, there is quite a
bit of room for pics. How bout sending a few to get
started.
Would like to see your tractor.
My 12 is still in
pieces awaiting assembly.
Know much about Onan
engines?
Pat
MF10 Man,
Welcome aboard. I plan on posting a
number of links soon that will help all of us. I did my
homework and found the best dealer support from Knoxland
Equipment @(603) 529-2366, in Weare NH. I can help out with
the decals you might need. There are a number of
garden tractor salvage yards with hard to find parts,
that I plan on including. Best of luck
Pat
Hi. I am from Indiana and I own an MF-10 in
average shape. I'm interested in doing a restoration this
summer, so any help you can pass along such as links or
other pertinent info would be much
appreciated.
Looking forward to being in this group.
Hi gang (and Pat),

Fumbling into Yahoo to
share my interest and WEALTH of knowledge.
;)

I'm not familiar with Yahoo, but I have several
Massey-Ferguson garden tractor pictures other enthusiasts might
like to see. Would it be appropriate to create a
personal album or should I post 'em in the default
album?

Is there a limit on how much space can be used? (If
so, obviously I don't want to use it all.)

I
guess that's enough questions for now. Catch you all
later.

Don
My engine is in need of overhaul or replacement.
There are bad spots n the cylinder walls and the valves
are a little loose in their guides. Are these engines
bored and sleeved or just bored and are the valve
guides workable. Has anyone tried a engine conversion to
say a kohler or honda. I have alot of side hills and
need to stay with a full pressure oiling system. Posts
here or direct emails, both are
welcome.
rdavies@...
Steve,
I recently found a guy who has a few
sets of restored plastic hood caps and his e-mail
address is: masseyfurgusson@...
I have a
pretty wide range of decals for 7, 8, 10, and 12. (both
massey and tecumseh) If you are interested let me
know.
Pat
This page is set up for those of us who
appreciate Massey-Ferguson Lawn and Garden products. I have
2 '69 MF 12 Hydro's, one in use and one in
restoration. I am trying to restore the tractor to original
condition, and of course have hit a few bumps in the road,
but have overcome the unavailable parts and decals
problem. Stay tuned for more details.
Pat
