The 2010 Mary Russell Fan Fiction Writing Contest
To celebrate the April 27 publication of the new Mary Russell book, The God of the Hive, Laurie R. King has authorized The 2010 Mary Russell Fan Fiction Writing Contest. The contest is also sponsored by the Letters of Mary Yahoo group. This is the site where the entries will be submitted and made available for the reading public.
There is only one requirement for each story:
In the latter part of 1924 Sherlock Holmes and Mary Russell meet 3 1/2 year old Estelle Adler, daughter of Holmes' son, Damian. Write a story that includes Estelle Adler as a teenager. The time period should therefore be anytime between 1934 and early 1941. It can take place anywhere you wish and include any other characters as long as Estelle Adler, as a teenager, makes an appearance.
This year's contest is now over and here are the results:
1. Another Case in Correspondence
2. Pilgrimage
3. High Charms
The First Place winner will be offered a choice of the "Birth of a Green Man" broadsheet or a signed copy of The God of the Hive. Second and Third place prizes TBD.
Congratulations to the winners and Thank You to everyone who partipated. The stories from this year's and the 2009 contest are archived in the Files folder. I will continue to moderate this group, so if you want to read the stories, please join.
