Hi, I'm Marlon Crump. I've been EXTREMELY active around police abuse in S.R.OS(Single Room Occupancy),here in the Bay Area,of San Francisco,California, for nearly three years. I suffered abuse, intimidation, and a near-death tragic occurence in my S.R.O,located in the Mission District,of San Francisco, on October 7th, 2005, at 11:50 p/m. Here is my story:
Members of the San Francisco Police Department Mission District Station, two in particular, Officer Angel G. Lozano, Star#554, and Officer Raymond Lee, Star#469, demanded a spare key to my room. The staff at the AllStar Hotel(where I still currently reside),gave them the key. The officers claimed I "fit" the description of an armed robbery suspect. They then proceeded to my room, opened my door(without anouncing) and they came in,guns drawn, about a few inches away from my face.I complied, and was handcuffed, facedown,on my bed.
I was brought out, questioned, then was forced into a "cold show"(being brought out to be identified),then released after it was confirmed that I was the wrong suspect. After returning into my room, I discovered a large tear,on the inside of my long leather trench coat.
After the ordeal, I became very self-motivated to stop this injustice,of police abuse,in S.R.Os.I regularly attend the weekly S.F. Police Commission Hearing every Wednesday,at City Hall.City govermental officials have come to the Mission Collaborative(community center for all S.R.O tenants, in the Mission District, located on South Van Ness,to resolve this matter,as many tenants are deeply affected around this issue.
