Should Holtz stop posting to lpsf-discuss?

If the members of lpsf-discuss don't want to hear from fellow Bay Area
Libertarians like me, I invite them to so inform the group owner
(steve@...). If he tells me that he's heard from what he considers a
sufficient number of members that I shouldn't post here -- or if he thinks
so for any reason of his own -- then I'll stop posting to the group.

If instead he or the group want me to cut my rate of posting, I already plan
to drastically do so by responding to your posts (on topics other than this)
only off-list. It would appear that your need to have me not respond here to
your postings is much greater than my interest to the contrary, so I'll stop
raining on your parade. :-) I'll continue to respond at my discretion to
your lpsf-discuss posts on my campaign board at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/marketliberal/, where you by contrast are
welcome to continue posting.

Are you suggesting that discussions here are not an activity that
subscribers of lpsf-discuss find important? Your time investment here this
weekend would argue to the contrary, but then again, you're only one
subscriber. At any rate, the two activities you've heard me decline to
participate in are 1) a parade two districts from mine, and 2) lunch with
you.

One thing I'm on the lookout for is an anti-globalization or
anti-outsourcing demonstration, so that I can counter-demonstrate. If you
hear of one happening in S.F., let me know and I'll be there.

First you say I'm sending myself to hell, now you say I've excluded myself
from the LPSF. Apparently I've been pretty busy. :-)

Feel free to ignore me. Most people do.

Can you be specific about precisely what consensus I'm supposed to have
agreed to but dared dissent from? I don't see a national consensus forming
around the anarchistic aspects of the LP platform any time soon, which is
why my campaign's purpose is twofold: 1) promote the idea of limited
government among thinking voters, and 2) promote the idea of minarchism
among thinking LP members.

My race is not about me; it's about a set of views I seek to promote. My
campaign is only one means to my end of spreading the message of free minds
and free markets. I'd rather have someone hear the message of liberty and
vote _against_ me than ignore the message while voting _for_ me, because the
message will eventually win even though I won't. What's true and right
always wins in the long run.

> Let me know how much your campaign raises.

If that's how you measure the validity of political views, then we're all
wasting our time here in the LP.

> My mayoral campaign raised $10K.

I don't doubt that you're a much better campaigner and speaker and
fundraiser and hand-shaker and baby-kisser than I am. I care more about
getting ideas into people's heads than getting money out of their wallets.

The amounts that LP congressional candidates can hope to raise are small
enough that, when I identify an expenditure that I think will promote my
purposes, it's easier for me to just donate to myself than to seek
donations. Interestingly, I've already budgeted more than $10K for three
different promotions, one of which has already been announced. (That one got
me a story on national TV -- fyi in case audience reach is the next thing
you ask me about. :-)

I didn't know I was supposed to be recruiting LPSF members among whatever
fraction of this group's 45 subscribers that aren't already members. If
money and dues are what you care about, let me know how big a check I'd need
to write to the LPSF in order to maintain my posting privileges on
lpsf-discuss.
