Mynardo Macaraig wrote this article for Agence France-Presse called "Once-great Philippine comic industry fights for survival", which got printed in the Inquirer as "RP ‘komiks’ fight for survival". I uploaded it my blog with the appropriate visuals.
Makes me wish our local newspaper website would provide as much visuals for their articles.

Since this was written for the AFP, it got picked up by several comic book blogs and news sites.
The article starts with the premise that Pinoy komiks used to sell in the hundreds of thousand, reaching millions and because its now not selling in the thousands of millions, then it is barely surviving. And even though it's great that it put the spotlight on Paolo Fabregas' and Ner Perdina's works as a sign that Pinoy comics are still surviving, it's just a bit sad that the report didn't even mention the multiple comic book events that have been happening for the past couple of years.
I just hope the article also gets the attention of potential publishers, entrepreneurs maybe, people who used to read comics, and might take an interest in making comics.
Maybe publishers of magazines and books should be invited to the next Komikon and the next MCC and the next couple of comic events and maybe they'll find something that they'd like to publish and maybe we'll get back to having thousands of copies printed and maybe we'll start reaching millions of Pinoys again.
Of course, this all hinges on having complete work, having comic books that are done, having comic books that have great stories and great art and it that it's all done with a beginning, middle, and end.
