My friends, Jonathan and Scott, and all others, Shalom!
I'm sorry if I offended anyone on this thread. If you look closely at the
discussions we've had on this subject, it was not me that started the insulting
language. Unfortunately, it was the other fellow who disputed with me that used
first the insulting language. And while I may have countered by using his own
style, this was only done to waken him up to what I felt to be a gross error
with his understanding of the issues at hand.
Yes, the subject matter is a disputed issue in Halachic circles. But as in all
disputes, there is a correct side and there is a wrong side to the picture. Not
all those professing to be skilled in Maimonides' Code of Jewish law (Mishne
Torah), obviously, are not necessarily capable of instructing others on halachic
matters. After many long years of studying Maimonides does one begin to fathom
the depth of his mind and thoughts! (I say this without referring to any person
in particular, neither do I do exclude myself from this category).
While I enjoy debates, I do agree that they should be respectable and civilized.
I'm sad to see that my friend has chosen to cut-off this discussion, despite the
proofs shown to him. I have no further reason to convince someone who doesn't
want to be convinced of the truth, and chooses rather to see it his own way -
despite the clear position of Orthodox Jewry on the "mitzvah" of beard growing.
Sincerely,
David
