It felt a bit like Prime Ministers' Questions where you don't know what is
going to be raised; the only advance warning you get is that (for the phone
callers) the prompt is on a telly in the studio "John From Maidenhead
Calling About Roads"; for the texts and emails he uses, no warning/subject
at all!
And yes, he's a nice fellow.

Pretty good I think, I heard most of it and you came over as though you know
what you are talking about, which I guess is the aim of something like that.
The questions were fairly easy from what I remember....nothing too tricky.
Well done. Is Andrew Peach as nice in real life as he comes over on the
radio?

Missed it. But tomorrow's "Any Questions" (Radio 4, 8 p.m., repeated on
Saturday after the 1 o'clock News) is coming from Jealotts Hill with Theresa
May on the panel, if anyone is interested.

Hi Paul
Landfill tax is the pay back for the local authority.
This is £25 per cubic metre, I think this is the equivalent of four full
wheelie bins of compressed rubbish.
In my case this is mostly paper and glass. Not so much glass as paper
newspapers, periodicals, junk mail, free sheets and cardboard.
Given weight against volume I reckon the average household with children
will dump at least one cubic metre a quarter, which is £100 saving to the
local authority.
Single households would be less and families perhaps more.
As there is a cash saving and the council collects cash to pay of services
etc then rewards should be offered by the council.
My personal view is the Council have placed a monetary value on recycling
now the debate is how much and how. As I see the offer I am saving them
money they should save me money as well, as perhaps the tokens.
Regards
Roger

Hi Roger
What is the nature of the awards? Are they like a voucher - "here's £ 10 to
spend at [shopname]" or are they like money off vouchers - "save £ 5 when
you spend £ 40 at [shopname]"? I couldn't see this info online.
You seem to be implying it's the latter. If that's true then, er, it's a
bit rubbish...
It would be interesting to know the figures involved. I reckon we recycle
~2kg per week, so around 100kg per year. So that is 100kg less going to
landfill - what saving does that represent to the RBWM? Very little I
should imagine. Which is presumably why the awards have very little
monetary value.

is this really going to work.
As far as I can see the points all mean I have to spend money...
So these are not rewards just a marketing ploy by the borough to get us in.
I for one would like to see the borough put some point on the Council Tax, such
as the whole number of reward points against the tax or any inclrease since
2004.
Or
Agains the residence parking charges.
or
Against and planning charges
or
Against any other fee the council charge up to 10% of the charge.
As far as I can see all the other points are a lot of effort.
What will happen if the scheme users all suggest the same option, all the people
I have spoken to think off the Council Tax would be good, all those in roads
with Residence Parking would like to see their charges payable in tokens
The Telegraph thinks its a great scheme, who did they talk to?

Roger
Hey,
Her name is paula and her number is +44 7541 217947.
She doesn't have access to email or Internet etc, so phone and text is
the only way to go.
She lives in beach close near St Marks. So maybe you could arrange to
meet up some time through the week, but I'll leave that to you two to
decide.
She said she is happy to help, so I'll give her a call now and pass on
your number to her.
I'll email back if there is a particular time you shouldn't call her,
but I'm sure any time should be good.

Oh yes please!
Every review I do helps me reach my goal of becoming a proper journalist. I
don;t get paid, apart from the odd gift voucher, but some of the products I've
received are payment enough!
My telephone number is 07592517834, or you can send her my email address. Must
ask if she's local though, as I cant post them, they had to be delivered to me
in a chilled foods van!
I'm at 4 Ray Mill Road West, Maidenhead SL6 8SB.

Hi all, I added these on Freecycle but the only two people who could help me had
children who were too young.
I have a "Mummy" blog online where I review products and often have PR companies
send me things. I've been sent some very expensive baby food, completely
organic, and that cost 2.79 each! I have 6 tubs, two of each savoury flavour for
a 6 month old plus.
The catch is if anyone can make use of them, they have to eat them within the
next couple of weeks, asap, as they dont last as long as normal baby food in the
glass jars. I would also want whoever has them to drop me an email letting me
know what their child thought and what they thought of the smell or whether
they'd pay as much for them.
So if you or anyone you know could help, drop me a line!
