Welcome! This group is for those of us in Massachusetts who support Senate Bill 959, working towards restoring our Civil Rights in order to get our original, unaltered, and unamended birth certificates opened and available to us upon request. This is something that all Massachusetts Adoptees have been denied, but are entitled to and have an inherited birth right to possess. Therefore, we have taken this opportunity to join together and coordinate efforts to try and push this bill through. After the passage of a similar bill in New Hampshire, along with renewed legislation in several other New England states, there has been stirring once again in Massachusetts and this bill could be passed into law and become a reality. Recently, the bill has been moved from the Judiciary Committee, after sitting stagnant for two years, to the Children and Families Committee. At this time, the bill has not been heard, but we are hoping that will change. We ask for your support with this important legislation and urge the Commonwealth to pass SB959 this year.
