I agree with that stament a lot more than the
other one. It is important to keep old traditions going
as well as creating new ones. But, in no way should
we, as Lutherans, sacrifice what we believe just for
the best interest of others. Faith is something that
is triggerd inside of you, and if it is forced to
become something different we all become defensive.
Sorry for hurting your feelings. I really do not
understand what is really going on. is this happening with
the ELC or ELCA? I'm Missouri Synod, and this is
losing me. I do totally agree with where you are coming
from. We have not changed any of our beliefs, according
to Martin Luther, we are practicing the original
Lutheran doctrines/traditions. What is your e-mail adress?
i wouldn't mind talking some time about this and
other stuff. You sound pretty
interesting.

Rosebud177
I respect other religions, I just think we should
keep our faith- with the Lutheran Docterine and all- I
think our religons should stay Lutheran and
Capiscapaylian, not one in the same. We are sacrificing our
beliefs and so far its caused little unity.
I do believe strongly in the teachings of Martin
Luther and the Lutheran church. That is why I am
attending a Lutheran college in the fall. But, there is a
strong will for unity in this religious catastraphe.
What i am saying is, that we as christians already fit
this category. We all believe in God the father, and
Jesus as our savior. the thing is, we all worship him
differently, even the same denominations are a little
different ceremony wise. But, we all consist of the same
beliefs. So, there really is not a reason to unite
churches as we have already united beliefs. But, just
because they are different does not mean that they are
less than us, and that is what a lot of lutherans
think.

Rosebud177
Call to Common Mission-The Lutheran church
believes firmly in Unity. The Lutheran Docterines express
the fact we need to stay strong in our beliefs,
however it is confusing because it talks about creating
unity with other Christians. To creat more unity, two
years ago we joined in with the Capiscapalian church.
The Capiscapalian church believes a pastor must be
ordained by a bishop that traces his ordainship back to
st.John. THus means, they believe we don't have any "real"
churches in their view. So we made a compormise, they
would accept our current churches and pastors, and
Lutheran churches agreed that now all our pastors will be
ordained through a bishop. Thus, we also agree to begin
taking on there worship stuff, like....they believe in 6
sacraments, and we only have two....we are accepting THEIR
belief system, thus we are erasing our original
traditional Lutheran religon. This has not created unity, in
fact quite a few Lutheran churches have split over
this issue. I believe it goes against Luthers
docterines and that we should be proud of our Lutheran
heritage, rather then compromise for unity.
Hey,
Can you explain to me what that is
because I am Missouri Synod, and I do not understand
that. I am so excited, to introduce myself, my name is
Kristen, and I am graduating from high school next
thursday. I will be attending Concordia University in the
fall, a Lutheran University.

Rosebud177
Hello, I am a member of St.Paul Lutheran church
an ELCA branch. I was recently very upset when
electing a new Synod Bishop to figure out we are joining a
partnership with the Capysicapalian church. What uniqueness
does that leave Lutherans? Afterall, it goes against
the Lutheran docterine!
My name is Jay. I'm a member of the Lutheran
Central webteam. We have
a website at
http://www.lutherancentral.com
Now this isn't just your
normal advertising
bit. First of all, I'm a
real person, not just an
email bot. Secondly, I am very interested
in each of
you and in this club. Thirdly, I actually admitted
that
part of the reason I'm doing this is for
advertising (shame shame on
me).
Too many times
Lutherans on line are scarce. Mostly because we
don't
have anything to connect us. My company, Lutheran
Central, is trying
to change some of that.
We'd not
only appreciate it if you looked at our site, we'd be
ecstatic.
We want to hear from you too. If you have a link
that we've missed,
feel free to tell us. If
there's a category you'ld like to see, feel
free to
tell us.

We're here because we like the idea
of "Connecting Lutherans." We hope
you like it
too.

Jay
Romans 6:1-14 explains Baptism to the extreme!

Verses 1 through 4 [NIV]: What shall we say, then? Shall
we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no
means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?
Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized
into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We
were therefore buried with him through baptism into
death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the
dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live
a new life.

I think the Bible says it all

In the church that I know Baptism is important
but, i do not think that if you are not baptized that
you will not go to heaven. People that confess their
sins to God on their death bed and are not baptized
still are let into heaven if they bekieve. You said
that you were baptized in an new age church 3 months
ago, then you should not have to get baptized again.
We, as Lutherns believe that if you only need to be
baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The denomination or non-denomination does not matter.
So, being Baptized is not the sole path to get into
heaven, believing in Jesus as your savior, accepting him
into your heart, spreading his word and living by it
is.
I was wondering.......IN the branches of the
Lutheran religon, like Missory Synod and what not, do they
all believe baptism is a major protion of whether or
not you go to Heaven? I am being confirmed May 6 and
we talked about who was and wasn't baptised. I was
baptized at a young age, pry 3 months old, but does the
Lutheran religon believe Baptism must come before Heaven?
no, I am Missouri Synod. I really don't think
that matters sice we are both Lutheran. But, thanks

often. I just recently got accepted into Concordia

I just wanted to say hi. I have been a Lutheran
for my whole life, and I enjoy the way that I am
treated by this spiritual family. It is great that I can
become part of a club that has the same interests as me.
Thanks for being there for me to join. God is surely an
awesome God.

Rosebud177
What a great group this will be, like a family.
My name is Blair, i live in Minnesota, and I am 15
