We are residents of the Lincoln Park Neighborhood who come from all walks of
life and many political perspectives. We are united in the belief that the
Bush Administration is pursuing a unilateral, reckless, lawless, and
dangerous approach to foreign relations that is against the best interests
of our community, our city, our country and the world. We are concerned
about the costs of this policy at home, in terms of sacrificing education,
housing, health care, and social security. We are alarmed by the growing
threat to our Constitutional rights and by the growth of racism, under the
slogan “war on terrorism.”

There is no threat to peace today that cannot be contained and defused by
means other than war, utilizing the framework of the United Nations and
other multilateral international institutions to find diplomatic solutions.
