Health Sunday March 4, 2007 Helping our children excel OORANYA KALORI BY RUPUNDA  Find out about a tool that can help our children be both right and left brain thinkers.  WE all know that our children are the future and that unless we get our education act together, and now, we are going to be among the “also rans” in Asia and the rest of the world.  As long as education is used as a political tool, we are never going to make it. The stress placed on our children to get five, six or more As in the UPSR or SPM examinations is something that is more about the pride of the parents than about equipping our children to excel in a way they can contribute to the Malaysia we all seek to achieve.  I will continue to say, and perhaps one day someone will listen, that until Vision 2020 is the core of our education system, we will fall further behind. Our education is left-brain based, whereas as a nation, we need rightbrain solutions.  We know the problem, and recently the Prime Minister, in launching the National Education Blueprint 2006-2010, called for our schools to produce students who can think out of the box. The blueprint, which is said to be integral in our journey to Vision 2020, still does not include teaching Vision 2020 to students, not to mention the teachers, and as I have said before, the nine spiritual challenges of Vision 2020 are integral in achieving the think-out-of-the-box students the Prime Minister calls for.  Teachers must be seen for whom they really are – Buddha taught that to be a teacher is the highest distinction a soul can achieve.Do we treat our teachers like that, or is teaching the job you get when you cannot get any other job?  Teach this technique to your children and if you are a teacher, incorporate it into your teaching routine. Switch-on both hemispheres of your brain by touching your right hand on your raised left knee. Then, place your left hand on your raised right knee and keep doing that for a couple of minutes. Look at the multiplication sign X while doing this.  The X represents your corpus callosum, which switches off your right brain. This exercise switches on the right brain to work with the left.  Last year, when I shared how to make Malas with everyone in this column, little did I realise that I had “accidentally” discovered a powerful tool. This tool, when combined with the right mantra, could open doors to many possibilities.  One of the purposes of this column is to introduce techniques and concepts that make us all thinkers as well as doers.  The Selana/Tiangana (Selana means comfort and light: Tiangana means pillar of eternal light) being introduced today, when used properly, will create the think-outside-the box mindset we desperately need.  The Selana/Tiangana is made of 39 crystals in a circle of 13 citrine, 13 amber and 13 of either lapis, chalcedony, sodalite, blue topaz or blue turquoise crystals, depending on the person, with seven moonstone crystals in the tail to signify the achievement of the seven auspicious needs perfection, fame, career, wealth, health, longevity and relationships.  Each takes a week or more to make, incorporating the energy of the sun, moon, rain, thunder, lightening and more, and is energised with sacred geometrical symbols by Gaele Arnott with special crystals from other parts of the world.  I am going to give away five of these to students (aged between 10 and 18). The mantra should be repeated in three sets of 39 times a day, in the mornings and evenings, and when you study or attend tuition. The smaller Mandela should be kept with you always. The larger one can be framed and kept where you study. Anything we can do to help our children learn with enquiring minds has to help our nation. For schools in the Klang Valley who want me to explain to parents how they can create these opportunities, I will freely do so.  We know that colour and sound enhances healing and growth, so it’s time to introduce these into our education system from Standard One to Form Six, then into college and university. We know that the only way our nation will grow is for us to become much more creative in our thinking.  We know that everyone talks the talk, but who walks the talk? It’s time our school classrooms are painted in colours that enhance learning (soft yellow with soft blue). It’s time our school uniforms use colour to enhance creativity as opposed to uniformity.  Consider the amount you spend on tuition to help your children “pass exams” and then decide whether you want to start your children on the “out-of-the-box” approach that will help them all their life. Last week, the American people learned that we are failing our service members
and veterans across-the-board.

The Washington Post revealed the appalling conditions at Walter Reed and the
failure of DoD to provide basic care. Newsweek exposed the inadequacies of the
VA, and the Associated Press showed that the immense psychological readjustment
needs of this generation of veterans are being ignored.

Our service members and veterans are being treated by a disjointed combination
of programs designed decades ago for a military with a drastically different set
of needs than we face today.

We need 21st Century solutions for 21st Century challenges.

Along with Veterans for America, I encourage you to ask your members of Congress
to work with DoD and the VA to identify the unique needs of our newest
generation of veterans and develop comprehensive programs that allow our service
members and veterans to achieve parity with their non-veteran peers.  Our
country owes them no less -- and no more.

It only takes a moment, and could make a big difference in the lives of our

as I do, just pick yourself up, dust your-

self off and start all over again. 

Whether we believe it or not, we do all

learn something each  time we make a

mistake.  Most of the time what we learn 

is to not do the same thing again. 

However, if we do not learn this lesson

the first time, we probably just need to

have the same experience until we do

learn from it.  Remember, making mistakes

of any kind does not make you stupid or

bad or unknowing; it just makes you human.

Many of you have come to serve during this time of major transition. Much of your spiritual growth will come through serving and teaching others. You do not need to have a public platform, to be well known, or to do work that others consider important to make an enormous contribution. You can add light to the world through anything you do, through your job, family life, and other activities. Your increasing light will serve others on a telepathic and energy level, for as you grow you will become a transmitter of spiritual energies and make a higher vibration available to everyone around you.

 

All teaching is learning. All empowerment of others is self-empowerment. There is no way you can teach and empower others without teaching and empowering yourself. As a teacher, you create the space that allows learning to take place. You empower and teach others every time you create an opportunity for them to grow. By learning to create that space for others to grow spiritually, you grow spiritually yourself. Empowering others will bring you spiritual rewards beyond anything you can imagine. As you serve others you will gain a radiance and light around you that will create opportunities and good things everywhere you go. You will find increasing prosperity, deep inner satisfaction, and the respect and love of those around you. You will find much energy coming back to you, for every time you create a shift for others you also create a shift to a higher consciousness for yourself. While you do not want to serve for these reasons, these are some of the gains you may realize as you follow your higher path.

 

We will call you who are following the path of enlightenment through service "world-servers." Being a world-server means honoring yourself and others; it means thinking of how what you do serves other people. It means coming from your integrity and standing by your deepest values. It means bringing out the best in people, assisting them in discovering their potential and the higher plan of their lives. Empowering people means assisting them in making positive changes in their lives. Shifting consciousness is an important aspect of your world service. You shift consciousness by empowering people. Empowerment is different from simply helping people. If people are hungry, you can give them food and help them temporarily. They are empowered when you teach them to get food for themselves and they can eat on an ongoing basis. If you are a healer, you can keep "fixing" people's problems, or you can teach them how to solve their own problems. Empowerment means teaching people skills they can use to take charge of their own lives rather than bailing them out of recurring problems. Ask yourself, "How does what I am doing serve this person to become more self-sufficient and independent?" When you assist people, perhaps helping them find solutions to problems, they either remain the same or make positive changes in their lives. If they make changes, you have shifted their consciousness and made a true contribution to them. Then they will have more choices and higher visions of themselves, which they can use to create better lives.

 

Consciousness can be shifted in simple ways. When you are with children or friends, focus on what you can do that will create a shift for them. When you meet people, think of what you can contribute to them, not what you will get from them. If you are getting together with friends, ask what you could do together that will expand each of you. Ask yourself, "How can I serve them with my words or actions?" Even when you meet with a business client, ask, "What is the higher purpose of this call or visit? How can I make a contribution to this person's life? How can my work, product, advice, or service empower this person?" As you do this regularly, you will lift your friendships to a higher level and evolve more rapidly yourself. You may find many wonderful surprises and much business success as you start focusing on serving other people…

 

One person CAN make an enormous difference. Becoming a world-server means joining the higher community of beings working together to bring light and evolution to others. Your own growth will accelerate rapidly, and you will become magnetic to people and opportunities that allow you to make a difference. Your world service is in whatever area you are drawn to - peace, ecology, education, the arts, medicine, science, metaphysics, or others. You can be of service in any job you have. You are in exactly the right place now to start serving and empowering others. It takes only a few people living at a higher vibration to create a doorway for many others. Becoming a world-server is one of the fastest paths to enlightenment and will bring you joy, abundance, and inner satisfaction. There is a beautiful interactive state that was described by one of your biologists as the "100^th monkey effect." The  100^th monkey effect is a beautiful description of a spiritual law that holds forth for the global consciousness. The global consciousness is activated by the ozz belt, which contains the collective mental thought patterns of the entire planet. Certain higher vibrational thought patterns can affect the whole global consciousness even though a majority of people are not thinking them. These individual thought patterns have a higher energy. Our focus can and should remain on the positive aspects of creating a new awareness. As we all know, we perpetuate and accentuate that which we give our energy to. So, our intentions must be focused on the other side of the emotional coin. If we face our fellow pilgrims with an attitude of "What can I do to help? What does Life need from me in order for it to flourish?", then we are part of the solution not the problem. You need not travel great distances, for as many gather together, the place where you are standing will become "hallowed ground." Begin to organize gatherings wherever you are to strengthen your vision. There is a purification which takes place for one who is preparing and giving themselves to service. There is a self-examination that takes place as one is tested in sincerity and detachment, surrender, and trust. Many have and many will continue to have opportunities placed before them, opportunities brought to their consciousness and to their field of operation by the activity of the Higher Self, in conjunction with the many Masters that serve you. Many opportunities are coming your way. It is your free will as to whether you will accept or reject each of these. And yet, these opportunities are of a divine nature. They are opportunities to be Lightworkers, teachers, and healers, not only in thought but in deed. It is a time that you have awaited, a time that you have looked forward to. The veils around your consciousness will be removed to reveal who you are and what you are here to achieve. Truly it is a wondrous time. And we enjoy so much the experience of the awakening of the Lightworkers, those who have slept within the apparent separation of the physical body.

 

There is a promise here that is unfolding. It is truly something which has not occurred before. When you place them in front of one another, and strike a certain string on one guitar, the other guitar (which has not been struck) will also begin to vibrate and resonate at that pitch. And so it is with you, as you resonate the frequencies of love and light, the heartstrings of all humanity are feeling this and beginning to awaken. At first this occurs mainly on the subconscious level, and yet the Higher Self of each individual is taking note and amplifying this vibration of truth within…

 

When you have the opportunity to share your spirit, in whatever way, you will find that great quantities of light and energy will come through and sustain you and nourish you and support you in this strange new world you are entering, the strange new world of love, surrender, and liberation. You have all been there before, so it is not new to you. As you take up the mantle of your own divinity once again, it will come back to you. Your veils will be removed. When you take responsibility for fulfilling your destiny and begin acting with the intention of doing so, you not only take fate into your own hands, but also you become the hands of your own fate. Doorways inevitably open for you to step through, and every choice you make can be a creative act toward realizing your goals and dreams. Remembering that the decision to fulfill your destiny is always a choice can be empowering. Maybe your work involves a small circle of friends or raising a family. You cannot know the worth of the work you are doing here on earth if you are judging it by the standards of the personality (which only looks at the form of it) and other people's or society's standards. Only through the eyes of your soul can you know the impact of your life on mankind.

 

Much of the great work done for mankind is done in the telepathic arena, creating thoughts of a high vibration, and does not involve public recognition. Every being that evolves to his or her next level makes it that much easier for those just behind to follow. As you hold thoughts, learn lessons, and radiate more love and peace, you are making a valuable contribution to mankind. Through those lines of thought that radiate out from you, you affect many people. Do not think that to have great effect upon people you must be famous, be on TV, or write a book. Some people are learning about certain fields so that they tap into the universal mind they open that doorway for mankind. There are those who hold a great vision of peace for the planet, so that when people think of peace they will be able to tune into a vision of it. They live very solitary lives, and are very gentle and loving beings, virtually anonymous and living alone, often in isolated areas. you, to make you feel weak instead of strong, to throw you down instead of
building you up?



3            As an Amazon Goddess of an imposing appearance, were men
intimidated by you, and how did they act when they were?  Did they try and
put you down or compete with you?



4            How did men try to dominate and control you?  How did you
maintain your autonomy and self determination, your dignity and self
respect?



5            What specific incidents happened that might have been unfair
toward you in the pursuit of excellence?  What was taken from you or what
were you deprived of that you needed?  When you succeeded, were you
congratulated, or was your accomplishment ever denied or denigrated?



6            What questions were asked you meant to destroy or denigrate?
For instance, as a bodybuilder were you asked things like 'What are you
trying to prove?'  'Why don't you just be a woman?'

men?  Did you ever wonder that why do we women have to APPEASE men in
whatever we do?  How did you resolve these questions?



8            From where did you gain your strength?  Your faith, confidence
and trust, where do they lie?  What gave you hope and solace when the chips
were down?



9            List some of your accomplishments, awards, contests won or
placed, movies, TV spots, magazines and newspapers appeared in, etc.  List
creative work and other projects and aspirations.  Give a brief biography of
yourself, say, four paragraphs or half a page.



10        Have women helped you or hurt and competed with you?  Did they
undermine or betray you?  Were they envious and catty instead of supportive?
Did you ever meet a women/women who truly helped you in a meaningful way and
encouraged and inspired you?



11       What advise do you have for women, especially those who are
mistreated, misunderstood, marginalized and passed over?  What hope do you
give them?  What of women in show business and the adult trade, who are told
by society they are bimboes and 'hoes' and treated like pariahs in
respectable society?  What should such women do, just stay in their own
underground world or fight for the rights of all women?  Why so much
prejudice and disrespect for women?  How are women going to overcome such
attitudes?  How have you overcome difficulties and how does your example
help other women?



12       About men - men usually help us when women don't.  But this help,
does it have a price tag?  Of course we have to be nice to men, but do they
want more, and do they get angry if we don't give them what they want, after
they have helped us?  If we reject their sex advances, do they take revenge?

Will there ever be liberation for us when they will have to be extra nice to

Hello everyone on this lovely but very, very

cold night in Alabama (at least to me):

 

I know that a temperature of 37 with a wind

chill of 32 degrees, and an expected low of 25

tonight might not seem cold to any of you.

However, to me, because I am so sensitive to cold

and cannot tolerate getting chilled, even a

little bit, so to me it is quite uncomfortable

outside.  I just hope the weather is more tolerable

for all of you, where you live.

Hello everyone once again:

 

The Daily Word for today is one of my favorite words, 'Prosperity,' and the Daily Thought which is :  "God is blessing me with opportunities that abundantly enrich my life." 

 

For me 'Prosperity' (or Abundance) is a word I should learn to use more often than I do the word lack, which to me is the exact opposite of prosperity.  And as with all habits, this is one that is very hard to break.  While I am not rich or overflowing with money, by any stretch of the imagination, I do make enough money from my retirement to live fairly comfortably, without worrying about my bills.  In fact, if I did as I should and did not spend so much money on things I do not need or buy things just to make myself feel better sometimes, I would probably be able to have enough money to even take a trip once in a while.

 

Those of you who know anything about people who are obsessive-compulsive and addictive, both characteristics that I have, know that these people always tend to obsess about something or are always addictive to something.  While I no longer drink alcohol as I once did years ago because about 20 years ago, I came to a point when I realized that I could no longer drink because, not only, had I began having black-outs, but drinking alcohol began making sick due to gall-bladder problems, so it was relatively easy for me to stop for those reasons.   I was a bit concerned about it, though, because my father was an alcoholic for years and died of cirrhosis of the liver and alcohol-related heart problems. But the problem is that I substituted that habit with over-eating and over-spending, both of which I still do today, which explains why I weigh too much and why I do not seem to manage my money wisely.  So if I am ever in a state of lack, rather than prosperity, it is my fault and no one else's. What I need to do is just find a way to get rid of these two addictions because, if I did, I would be much better of physically and emotionally and would even have a bit more money to enjoy things I cannot afford now.

 

Therefore, as my daughter stated when she was here Christmas, my goal this year is to start getting msyelf out of debt, to a point where I can do things that would make my life better -- like take trips once in a while.  Because I have myself stretched to the limit each month now, that is going to take quite a while, but if I know in my heart that if I set my mind on a goal and set my intention on reaching it, I can be successful in my endeavors.  So when I see the word 'Prosperity, all of these ideas come flowing to the forefront of my mind.  And as we all know, where the mind goes, the attention flows (or as I like to say, the intention flows).  Believe you me, I know this this is not going to be easy because I have had these same habits for many, many years, but I am going to at least do my best to give them up -- starting today.

 

That said, let me now get to the rest of today's message which is:

 

"Dear God, You are the source of all that sustains and fulfills me.  Whatever I may have thought I required or wanted  in the past, I now discern that Your presence is the source of all that I need and desire.

 

"In my activities today, Your blessings may show up in many ways.  When an opportunity arises, I understand that it is Your presence that is generating abundance in my life.  I recognize and act on an opportunity, knowing that You are expressing good through me and for me.

 

"Your beloved presence, God, blesses my loved ones, those I work with, and all of those whose lives I touch today and every day.  Thank You, God.  Through Your presence, we are blessed with abundance (prosperity)."

 

As I said earlier, I always love messages on the subject of Prosperity or Abundance, so this message really resonated with me today.  I hope it does with some of you as well.

 

Enjoy your night, and may your sleep be both restful and renewing.

Hi All,

I wanted to pass on a bit of news and ask for your thoughts and prayers.  I am
feeling
pretty shaken by this.  At 7:00 a.m. MST this morning, I received a call from my
son's
daycare center, Hand in Hand Early Learning Center in Lakewood, Colorado.  Last
night
around 9:00 p.m. a fire engulfed the daycare.  I looked at some of the pictures
on our local
news channels website, and the pictures just turned my stomach.  The daycare is
part of a
church and an elementary school.  The buildings are connected, but the daycare
received
most of the damage.  Seventy-five children attend the daycare.  This affects
many families,
teachers, church staff, and parishioners.

I am SO THANKFUL that nobody was in the facility at the time of the fire.  
Still, it is
unnerving, and has caused upheaval for many people.  Many families, such as
myself, have
no alternative daycare, so I am staying home until further notice to care for my
son.
Hopefully the community will pull together and an alternative site will be
located soon.

Please keep everyone affected by this fire in your thoughts and prayers.

      I have to say that this message bothers me. First of all

 I always wonder why some try to genderize issues when it really boils down to human decency??????? Gender shouldn't be an issue AT ALL for when all is said and done it is a pre-birth agreement as to which  gender you decide to be and comes from the ID  , ego seeking part of the soul that has decided to leave  the great void of no mind, no thing and become SOMETHING.   Those of you  who have watched the intensely popular movie INDEPENDENCE DAY should realize by now that like it was said in the movie, it's time to move beyond that  thinking  of race against race, gender against gender and band together as humankind. For in that day when you meet new creations of the universe what will you do when you realize all your prejudices and  presumptions disappear in the huge ocean of bio- diversity???????????????

Hi All,
